As T-Mobile’s flagship Samsung Slider, the T819 came up short on call quality, data, camera, and pricing. With all of these shortcoming’s, T-Mobile and Samsung decided to replace the T819 with it’s bigger and better brother. Introducing the T659 from T-Mobile. This up and coming device will feature an updated MP3 Media Player, with a MicroSD expansion option to store up to 16GB of music, video, and pictures. The T659, originally codenamed the “Samsung Scarlet,” will have T-Mobile’s regular GSM and GPRS/EDGE bands (850/900 1800/1900) in addition to access to T-Mobile’s 3G network (1700/2100), reportedly the 2nd fasted in the United States.

What does 3G mean for me?

• The introduction of 3G on T-Mobile’s network and on their devices provides us, the customers, with the ability to surf the web, send, or receive text messages all while you are talking on the phone.
• 3G offers better signal and better coverage to customers with 3G enabled devices, such as the T659
• 3G provides customers with high speed Internet, without any wires or connecting you mobile phone to your computer. When you have a 3G device in a 3G coverage area, you are able to surf the Internet at broadband-like speeds over the airwaves. All of T-Mobile’s phones could do this before 3G, but at much slower speeds
