T-Mobile has announced that the new Blackberry Curve 8900 is hitting the lineup. The Blackberry Curve 8900 does WiFi for UMA-based HotSpot calling service and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The 8900 features a 3.2-megapixel cam with image stabilization and a 480 x 360 display. Look for it next month. However, T-Mobile hasn’t committed to a date, maybe Feb 11th.

OS 4.5.0.124 Leaked for GSM BlackBerry 8xxx Smartphones

The latest batch of OS updates apply to the good ‘ol 8700, the 8800, Pearl and Curve series. No OS updates for the Bold and Storm users this time around, sorry So, if you’re on the oldie 8700, an 88xx, Pearl or Curve series BlackBerry, this would be your chance to upgrade to the latest 4.5+ OS. As always, please take necessary precautions before updating your OS. Update at your own risk!

Today RIM announced the new Blackbeerry Pearl Flip 8820, only for T-Mobile in the United States, at least for this year. We informed before about that Kickstart will be no longer the name for the new version of the pearl. The new BlackBerry Pearl Flip provides flip phone fans with all the power of a BlackBerry smartphone in a fun and familiar design. Similar to the Nokia 6103,it will features one quick flip of the handset. You can send a message to your friends or family, make a call, browse the web, snap a picture, watch a video or listen to your favorite song. It’s all in your control with a simple flip.

The quad-band EDGE based BlackBerry Pearl Flip smartphone presents a sophisticated look with a sleek design and a chrome-finished frame surrounding its smooth, luminescent face. BlackBerry Thunder live pics out in Public

For the CrackBerry BlackBerry addicts (like me) who don’t want to give up their BlackBerry for an iPhone 3G but want a touchscreen don’t have to wonder if it’s in the works. We’ve seen leaked promotion images, but now the first live images of the BlackBerry Thunder for Verizon have been released, and it looks like a normal BlackBerry… Just without a keyboard. The Thunder is rumored to be an iPhone killer (I think all phones with a touchscreen nowadays have been called an iPhone killer) but even I have my doubts of that happening. The latest news from CrackBerry is that the Thunder has a glass, multi-touch screen AND a new web browser built from WebKit, the same engine that powers Safari, so the screen should act nice and viewing the web should be a breeze. The phone is expected to be released November, but with Verizon, you never know when exactly it will be released.

T-Mobile gets BlackBerry Javelin with “Safe Mode” and Gaming

T-Mobile users can finally rejoice as they’ll get a new QWERTY BlackBerry with OS 4.6 soon enough. The BlackBerry Javelin (the Bold’s lesser, non-3G enabled cousin) will arrive on T-Mobile… Well, possibly mid-2009. Granted, times change and it may be sped up (hopefully it will be).

Some of the interesting details coming to light are things such as “Safe Mode,” RIM’s own psuedo-GPS, and gaming. Yes, gaming.

For “Safe Mode” this paragraph is all we have to speculate from:

“Your device is currently in Safe Mode. Your device starts in Safe Mode if you hold the Escape key during startup. To remain in Safe Mode, click OK. To exit Safe Mode, click Reset.”

Whether this could mean it loads the bare essentials (like in Windows) or loads everything but third-party apps has yet to be seen.

Next up is the psuedo-GPS called either “CellData” or “GAS” (make your own guesses as to what it stands for) that is essentially what Google Maps does. It gathers information from cell towers near you and determines where you are. This is definitely a hit-and-miss case depending on where you live.

Lastly, a feature standard across the OS 4.6 board — the “BlackBerry Game Service.” What games this will feature, feel free to speculate on, but it’s basically an invitation based setup where if you want to play, you have to have the game. Xbox Live setup is the best comparison.

This will definitely be a device to follow as it comes closer.
