Choose what apps to show on your Android Market

Definitely , this week was Google’s weeks introducing the new Google IO, new OS like Android HoneyComb 3.1 and Sandwich Icecream and allowing application size up to 4GB.  Now we can noticed a few improvements  in Android Market application.

You can access this feature at Market -> Menu -> Settings, where you’ll see  Content filtering  option.

Good to parents to block those porn applications.

SnapPad, a trademark requested by T-Mobile USA

T-Mobile was recently spotted filing for the trademark to the name SnapPad.  What is that?   All we know is that it is another tablet computing device, based on what we have stumbled upon. T-Mobile has also been acquiring various domain names containing the name SnapPad, such as SnapPad.biz, T-MobileSnapPad.com and TMobileSnapPad.net, along with so many other similar names.

Sprint attacks with fat “lady”

Sprint  is the first and one of the most important wireless companies that is against AT&T-T-Mobile acquisition. Sprint does not want the be way behind if the proccess passes FCC and be the third in place, only controlling less than 20% of the wireless industry. That is why Sprint has just  used was  this ad, mocking T-Mobile’s own recent ads featuring a brunette in a pink dress — mocking AT&T and Verizon as old, white balding men.

The ad, which features a cigar-smoking man in a similar pink dress, used the tagline “It makes sense if you don’t think about it,” and complains the deal will result in less innovation and higher prices. However, the ad — funded in part by Sprint and supported by groups like Public Knowledge and Media Access Project.

AT&T this morning heads before the Senate Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights to defend their planned acquisition of T-Mobile.

Unlimited WiFi calling Free starting May 11th

T-Mobile will offer unlimited Wi-Fi calling to its subscribers starting on May 11. T-Mobile has been offering this WiFi calling or UMA service for few years and with an extra cost , you will call anywhere in the USA using WiFi without taking your minutes.

Right now you can make calls over a wireless network, which is useful where your data coverage is poor, but on the flipside, it cuts into your in-plan minutes. With this, you can make any calls using wifi for free. Great T-Mobile, keep bringing the good stuff .

T-Mobile lost almost half a million customers

Today, T-Mobile has just announced the Q1 2011 results .. damn, this is bad……. The company’s profit fell over $200 million year over year from $362 million last year to $135 million in the first quarter of 2011. According to official Q1 financials, 471,000 contract customers either failed to re-up, or outright canceled their contracts. The company lost 99,000 subscribers in the first quarter, bringing its total to 33.6 million.

Where are the good news ?  Customers what use 3G or 4G phones has increased by nearly 1 million year over year to 9.1 million customers. Additionally , its 4G network now covers more than 200 million people around the U.S., and is available in 170 markets. It’s currently upgrading download speeds to 42Mbps, which should be available to over 140 million people by the middle of the year.

T-Mobile USA has just added 3 more cities enjoying its 4G HSPA+ network. Now Ft. Myers FL, Pueblo Co, and Wilkers Barre -Scranton, PA en surf the web, download and upload videos, and more with blasting 21Mbps.

T-Mobile launches HSPA+ in 1O more markets

T-Mobile just recently  announced that it is lighting up 10 more cities in the United States with HSPA+ 4G speeds today and the company says that its network now is in 167 markets and reaches more than 200 million people across the world. The carrier also announced that it will be doubling the speeds of its 4G network in Las Vegas, New York and Orlando, Florida at some point this year up to 42 Mbps.

The 10 cities that now have access to HSPA+ speeds are:

  • Anderson, Ind.
  • Battle Creek, Mich.
  • Benton Harbor, Mich.
  • Jackson, Mich.
  • Fort Collins-Loveland, Colo.
  • Lawrence, Kan.
