Verizon’s newest touchscreen phone, the LG Dare (also known as the VX9700), is daring people to take a look at it. To be released online June 26th and then retail July 3rd, the Dare looks like it may be a interesting little phone. For $200, it puts up a fight with it’s closest brother, the LG Voyager, in a few different aspects.

First off, the screen is bigger at 3-inches, but has the same 240×400 resolution, and it’s not an capacitive touch-screen, so you’ll have to tap with your fingernails according to Engadget Mobile. It’s smaller than the Voyager at .54-inches thick, but manages to squeeze in a 3.2 megapixel, a 3.5mm headphone jack (means you can use your regular headphones in it), a proximity and light sensor, an accelerometer, and an odd feature: a 120 frames-per-second movie recording feature. Weird, huh?

Software wise, it has an HTML browser which apparently isn’t any good, a Cover Flow-like application, custom shortcuts on the home screen, and text input through an on-screen QWERTY, predictive, or handwriting (really??). Also included is a drawing pad, video/picture/panoramic stitching program, and finally you can listen to music while doing other things.

As mentioned, the Dare will be $200 with an additional $50. Get your cards out, kiddies.
