Skype now supports 3G and WiFi calling to many phones!!

By: t-marco August 4th, 2011

Just few weeks ago, Skype launched for the first time the availability to make video calls but only via a few phones. Now Skype has finally updated their application to add new devices. The list of devices is long, such as the Galaxy S and SII. both the EVO 4G and EVO 3D, the DROID Charge just to mention a few. On Android 2.2 (Froyo), only the back camera will work. This is because only devices running Android OS 2.3 or higher allow apps to access the front facing camera.

(These handsets already support video calling)

  • Samsung Google Nexus S
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia neo
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia pro
  • HTC Desire S

Video calling is now available on the following Android devices:

  • Samsung Galaxy S II
  • Samsung Galaxy S
  • Samsung Droid Charge – Verizon
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab
  • HTC Desire (2.2)
  • HTC Thunderbolt – Verizon
  • HTC Sensation
  • HTC Evo 4G
  • HTC Evo 3D
  • HTC Incredible S
  • HTC Desire HD
  • HTC Flyer
  • LG Revolution – Verizon (2.2)
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia ray
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro
  • Acer A5

By: t-marco July 1st, 2011

Just recently Skype announced the availability of making video calls on the new Skype 2.0 version but only for a few devices like Nexus S and Xperia Neo and Pro. Now, thanks to a user at XDA developers, we can have the same features on many devices, included Samsung Galaxy S ( Captivate in my case).

I tasted today and really works. You have to option of switch cameras from  front to back.

WM7 Music Player style on your Android

By: t-marco May 23rd, 2011

Federico Cardenas, the developer of Launcher Pro, has designed a new option to play your favorite tunes.  The look and functionality of the Zune player is present(alpha status). The only thing it’s really lacking so far is a name, and obviously any Zune software integration. I have tried this apk and really works very smooth, it downloads covers and artists backgrounds via wifi or cellular network.

After the launch failure of Bobsled VoiP Service via Facebook, T-Mobile is re-launching the service next week.  T-Mobile USA spokesperson confirms the operator will relaunch Bobsled either Monday or Tuesday.

For those readers who don’t know what is Bosled, it enables users to send private or public voicemails to their friends’ Facebook walls. Neither Facebook user needs to be a T-Mobile subscriber–only the caller is required to have installed Bobsled. Moving forward, T-Mobile plans to introduce additional Bobsled features including video chat and smartphone/tablet accessibility.

SPB Shell 3D.. a great Launcher for your Android !

By: t-marco April 5th, 2011

SPB Mobile Shell is one of the essential applications if you have 15 bucks to spend.  It is a replacement application launcher that works not only quicker  but also in a way that makes the device much more pleasant to use. So when SPB asked if I wanted to try out the beta for SPB Shell 3D for Android, I seized the chance. You have a number of pre-configured home screens and widgets, and you can tweak things to your liking. SPB has designed Shell 3D with a number of slick animations, including the weather widget and world clock. And you can spin your way from one home screen to another with ease.

Whilst in carousel mode, you can also rearrange the panels, change their colors, or flick away excess panels.

Battery use seams like normal, rain since installing SPB Shell 3D.

BTW, uses almosot 30 MB of RAM
