Highly unlikely. I have friends who works at T-Mobile. Nobody knows any such date for G2. I guess we will have to wait and see what kind of pictures T-Marco provides us with.

There have been G2 rumors and photoshopped pics all over the various Android forums for a month now. They aren’t believed to be true.

Also, if this IS the G2 that we’ve seen pics of, it’s built on the HTC Touch HD software… which means no capacitive touch. GAY!

BTW… the A2DP bluetooth, and video recording support, are coming in the new Android firmware codenamed Cupcake, set for release in January. These features will be usable on the G1.

Okay well first off the G2 isn’t coming to the US but it will me made some might think to do research and this is really old news also it does not have a physical keyboard only a virtual one also no video calling service here yet so sorry guy’s it features video recording and more but only because of the time of it’s release the G1is getting the same features if you have any questions let me know otherwise the update for the G1 should be out in January it will fix as well as add a lot of new features like video recording and you will be able to see all your running processes as well as save a image from MMS.

This is false. There is no way T-Mobile would launch the G1 in October, while making people sign a 2 year contract, and then go ahead and launch a G2 three months later.

I would say the G2 by name won’t come til Q2, 2009.

Sega has already shown us that releasing to flagship products within a month or so of each other will cause full failure.

If anything there would be a cheap version of the G1 that doesn’t have all the features, NO camera… and W2G internet… marketed at 99.99 or something. 1) one looked like it was the g1 but a bigger screen

First, if the device is HTC running Android OS – I may take a look at it. At this moment I am sick of G1 stories. I was one of the early adopters and God have mercy I barely saved myself from getting that piece of brick. This seems like a completely over disscussed topic, with the intentions to mislead everyone into buying a device that will not be another version of the g1. They are coming out with another android device, but not the g2. The G2 is no rumor. However I am unclear what the looks and specs of it are. When my G1 was being replaced I complained about not having some features I am used to and the Tmobile rep was saying they have blackberries and the NEW G2 coming out. So it is very real.

i was in a tmobile store today in oviedo florida because i was looking to upgrade from my dash and the lady told me to wait till january because the G2 will be in late january. as well as a new blackberry and new dash. She does not know any details about the phones but she had a list of new models coming out.. she does believe the battery life with the g1 will be improved for the g2

Cupcake sets a base that should reduce the impact of the first aspect,
with the open-source tree being hopefully eventually close (or
identical) to the underlying platform of the stuff that ends up on
consumer devices.

I got the email below and seems G1 owners are not happy that the cupake is not for them. I had read another emailed that I did not save (stupid of me) in which a man tried to put the cupcake on the G1 and it did not work and they told him it is not being made for the G1! Read below.

I went to a T-mobile store on 3rd January 2009. There was this guy who showed me a G1. I also asked him about G2, but, he told me that he hadn’t heard anything about it. I asked him to find out anything he can about it. If I get any positive response from him then I will surely post it here. I went to the link posted above, its true that HTC has a HD phone opted to be released soon, but I seriously doubt that it would be named G2. My girlfriend had the dash which sucked balls. But shortly after I received my g1 she tried to upgrade her phone in which her relative work for tmo customer service and told her not to get another phone yet nor the g1 yet because tmo is releasing a g2 soon in which another tmo employee posted earlier. And this was back in nov..so g2 rumors is OLD news people… atleast for me. Now as of when I don’t know..and what features, from what I was told it will have a keyboard and would look similar to the g1 but with better features…this cupcake update is just to shut these crybabies up about video recording because the features wasn’t worked out intime for release dates..so tmo put the phone out ayway with the features it already had..its open for that reason..pretty much to finish what was not put into the phone off the press so we will get then slowly as they are available..I hope our phones get upgraded for free when the g2 comes out because to buy a new one is pure bull..besides they made so much money off the g1 they can come out with a g2 tomorrow and it won’t really put a dent in tmo pocket because people who didn’t get the g1 will most def get the g2..and people like me who just have to have the newest tech out will buy it if I have to so…just chill people…just chiilll..ire!

JimBo i have to disagree…. there might be a G2 or equivalent more-or-less a second Adroid device supported by T-Mobile. But Apple teetering on the side of enforcing a monopoly (which i hope gets over turned) has forced google to not support multi-touch. There are third party companies which can enable the hardware but the shipped product from T-Mobile will not have multi-touch. So i have to sorta call you out on your source.

Well, I find it wierd that Google already has a G2, when G1 wasn’t even out for a year yet. I have a G1 and am really mad. They could’ve made this G2 at least a year after G1. Sheesh.

This rumor was crap and highly unlikely when first posted. A more reliable consideration is the HTC Magic. This phone has already been released in Europe. Its an android phone and it will probably be released in the US as the Tmobile G2. Its got same features except it has no pull out keyboard and it video capture. This sounds more realistic to me and is based on something actually in existence.

Was in the store yesterday and a sales rep confirmed the G2 is coming to t-mobile. No jumping down my throat about legitimacy. Its just what i was told by a sales rep that has worked for 5years. And he mentioned that there will be a samsung Android based phone also. Didn’t give me a date but said this summer.. Whatever that means.

Ummm…. all these applications and amazing features are great…. but lots of people who have G1’s complain about the battery running out too quick.
