T-Mobile G1 gets unlocked!
The first T-Mobile G1 has been unlocked thanks to the guys over at Unlock-TMobileG1.com. Now you can use the T-Mobile G1 with another sim card like AT&T or Rogers. But, what is the point to use the G1 when the 3G bands are not compatible with AT&T. An unlock G1 will be useful in Europe with other carrier like Vodafone or Movistar. If you like the G1 and you still want to keep your contract with AT&T, you are stock with only EDGE.
Unlocking the G1 is very quick and easy, in fact anyone who can make a phone call can unlock their G1 with no trouble at all. Unlock-TMobileG1.com offers unlock codes for $22.99 USD. After placing an order including your IMEI code you will receive an eight-digit unlock code for your device. Your IMEI number can be found by pressing *#06# in the dialer, or by going into your settings, selecting “About phone” and then selecting “Status”. The IMEI number then can be found about half way down, it is 15 digits long.

Pointless since the phone will only work with T-mobles 3G Network…
Stick to a AT&T phone so you can use their 3G network.
Now that T-Mobile has a 3G network I will not buy any more unlocked phones until they use 1700/2100 for 3G
