After a brief break of being in the spotlight, T-Mobile’s 3G network has popped up again, and we are more the glad to see this news. Our friends over at Engadget were sifting through T-Mobile’s press release regarding the release of the Samsung Memoir, when they stumbled across some exciting and unexpected news. T-Mobile stated that they plan to cover more then 200 million people with their 3G network by the end of 2009. T-Mobile’s previous goal regarding their 3G network was to have 100 million people within 3G network range by the end of 2008. If our math is correct, then T-Mobile plans to double their 3G coverage over the remaining 317 days of 2009. Of course this is great news for those with a T-Mobile G1 but no T-Mobile 3G. We welcome T-Mobile’s plans to expand their 3G coverage, and we hope that T-Mobile doesn’t drag behind with the next wireless evolution, like they did with their 3G network. With some great upcoming 3G devices such as the USB flash drive, Wing II, Dash II, G2, and more, T-Mobile’s 3G expansion couldn’t come at a better time….except for anytime in the last year and a half.
Lets hear some reactions to T-Mobile’s 3G expansion announcment. Feel free to discuss in the comments, or head on over to our 3G forums.
