So my favorite site that sells unlocked phones now has the HTC Hero listed... Its only $160 more than I paid for my MyTouch3G (I did not qualify for an upgrade so had to pay full pop $460 after taxes!!)

So I did some comparing...

Audio Adapter:
HTC Hero has a 3.5mm headphone jack...

Magic does not but DOES include a small USB to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter...

Dimensions:
HTC Hero = 112 x 56.2 x 14.35 mm ( 4.41 x 2.21 x 0.57 inches)
HTC Magic = 113 x 55 x 13.65 mm ( 4.45 x 2.17 x 0.54 inches)

Its such a slight difference (were talkin 1mm or less difference) in size to the Magics favor, and the Magic is also sleeker how its more rounded... Also the Magic (myTouch) has a recessed LARGER track ball that is really comfortable to the thumb... it also lights up...

Weight:
HTC Hero = 135 grams ( 4.76 ounces) with battery
HTC Magic = 118.5 grams ( 4.18 ounces) with battery

Half an ounce difference but compared to the G1 for example with a weight of 158 grams (5.60 ounces) with battery... the weight really makes a difference! The half an ounce weight INCREASE is not worth it to me for a 3.5mm headphone jack... I always carry my ipod and keep it in the car for cartunes as well... so the 3.5mm jack = USELESS! (to me at least)

Hero does have 96MB (288MB total) more built in ram (for applications) than the Magics 192MB built in ram... But with the expandable MicroSD card slot (4GB included with MyTouch from T-Mobile) the storage space is enough for me...

Processor:
Magic has a Qualcomm® MSM7201a™, 528 MHz
Hero has a Qualcomm® MSM7200A™, 528 MHz

Does that mean the Hero has a lesser advanced processor? I have no idea... looks the same to me!

When it comes down to it... being a T-Mobile customer and these phones are so similar... I'm going to stick with the Magic (MyTouch3G) since it gets full t-mobile support...
