I'd say it can be a combination of a poorly built 3G network (in some areas), weak radio (HTC) or bad software (Google) causing issues.

This device may have attracted many people who formerly were on larger 3G networks and they might happen to live in fringe areas of 3G's coverage.

Don't let T-Mobile get off without a little blame. They were last to get 3G and although they got themselves up to 200 million POPS they are still far behind their larger competitors.

Once everyone else gets 4G T-Mobile will still be battling a mostly GPRS network with 3G only in some populated areas. Sad.

It's T-Mobile. If I'm outside (or near outside) it works great, but if I go to the center of my building it's all edge.

Exactly! I go between 3G and 3.5G all the time on my N900. In one small area of the city I drop drown to 2.5G or 2G. It may be some areas have weak signal but the phone has to learn to deal with the signal that is out there and not hop arround. Something as simple as a twenty second delay between displaying jumps between 2G and 3G changes would make it look more stable even it if wasn't more stable. That might cut out a good part of the whining.

Now if only I could get a connection that was faster than .87 Mb/s when on 3.5G ...

GOOGLE IS JUST TRYING TO BLAME TMOBILE, SO THEY WON'T LOOK STUPID. I USED TO HAVE THE G1 AND NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE 3G NETWORK!! IM USING THE GREAT TOUCH PRO2 NOW, AND STILL HAVE NO 3G PROBLEMS! MY MOM HAS THE BEHOLD AND NO PROBLEMS WITH 3G EITHER. IT IS GOOGLE'S PROBLEM, NOT TMOBILE. EVERYONE GIVE TMOBILE A CHANGE, JUST BECAUSE ONE PHONE HAS ISSUES, DON'T DISH THEIR NETWORK. JUST LIKE MARCO SAID, IF GOOGLE WAS NOT TO BLAME, WHY IS THERE A SOFTWARE FIX?

My Nokia N900 has never had a problem on T-Mobile's network since I started using it a month ago. In fact instead of switching between 3g to 2.5g it switches from 3g to 3.5g occaisionally. Nothing to complain about here...

A friend of mine has a myTouch 3g and he never has complained about 3G issues.. if the problem is T-Mo network, like google says.. why Google is launching a new patch to fix the bug?
