Default Added 1 new line- Received 2 phones...

This is also posted on hofo, just in case someone happens to notice:

I hate dragging things out, but things are always so complicated..

I added a new line to my family plan on the 25th. That makes 5 lines on the plan, which is the max. Later that evening, I received a call saying they had to read the T&C to the Account Holder (AH). I told them I'd have the AH give them a call back, but they only gave me the T-Mo (800) number.

When I had the AH call back, they said there was no record of the order I placed earlier, even though I placed it, was read the T&C's, and selected delivery options.

We then ordered the phone again since they said there was nothing pending. So today I got to check out the SDA I ordered, and there are two boxes. Two SDA's. Both already have SIM cards and batteries attached when I open the box (I guess that's how they do it these days), but I only turned one on. I got lucky, and it was the number that showed up on the mytmobile website.

I just called them up to see if they showed any charges on my account, but they said they won't show up for another 3 weeks due to my billing cycle. I was inquiring because:

-Max lines is 5. How can they send me a 6th? It doesn't show up on the site, so who knows what the number is, or if it's even active.

-I wanted to see if they happened to charge me for the 2nd SDA (which I don't expect for free...), but if they do, that would imply I get a 6th line on the family plan.

-If 14 days passes (return period), do you think I'll be stuck with a full bill on the 2nd SDA, or could they possibly only charge me $50, and not have a plan attached to it?

I'm going slightly crazy. I didn't want to immediately tell them I was sent a 2nd one, as THEY should probably know what THEY'RE doing...

The consensus on hofo is that T-Mobile will eventually figure this situation out and ask for the phone back...or charge me full price for it.

I'm assuming those who commented are right, but not like it's a far fetched thought.

Anyone care to differentiate from popular opinion? I'd love to keep the 2nd SDA!

A good and honest person would call and then return the 2nd phone. People like you and me wanna keep that second phone and hope they never find out. haha.

I would just call and let them know that they sent you 2 phones. that way you don't keep worrying about being charged full price for the 2nd SDA.

You're definitely taking a chance. It really comes down to your morals.

I've got morals, that is, if they're going to charge me.

I'm not a deceptive person, but you don't know how you'll react until you get in a situation.

If you decide to keep the phone unless they catch you, you'd better change your credit card number and stop your auto-pay if you have it. Otherwise, the charge for Full MSRP for the second phone could show up on your credit/debit card when you least expect it.

That's true. I'm not sure how I would react because I've never been in that situation. Hmmm...I guess just go with what you feel is right.

THANKS ANFREY!

If only I was the cause of the initial problem. A moron T-Mo rep had no idea what they were doing...

They're going to raise everyone else's rates because they sent me an extra phone that I'll end up being charged for? Naaaaaahhh.

I can assure you that I would and have sent back the second phone. It's not like finding a dollar in the grocery store. You KNOW who the rightful owner is. T-Mobile. How would you like it if someone stole or you lost your phone or wallet? And don't give me "I wouldn't care" either. Your wallet they could easily get back to you, and your phone too. Just do the right thing and send it back. You may not get caught, but they usually find out during audits. Either way, Karma can be a bitch.
