I think I have a problem with my sim card, but I'm not sure. I used to have a Dash. Starting about 2 months ago, it started not holding a signal. It would cycle through, say "searching," "no service," "home service," and then get a signal. Then it would do this again. It started just every once and awhile, but then started happening more frequently. I would try turning it off or pulling the battery, but the only thing that would get it to go back to normal (at least for a little while) was to do a hard reset. The first few times I would go to copy my contacts to my sim and would get error messages saying the sim was busy. After a couple times I left my contacts on my sim.
I wanted a new phone anyway, and this seemed like a good excuse, so I went and picked up a Sidekick 2008 this past Friday (Aug 8). I have since fallen in love with the phone. It is a good fit for me. Tonight at work, I saw I had accidentally turned my phone off. I turned it on and it was searching for a signal. it did this for about a half hour. It would get a signal for a few seconds, then lose it and say searching again. Or say emergency calls only. I tried powering off and back on. I tried pulling the battery. This eventually got it to hold a signal so I could makes some calls. It has since done this a couple more times (first happened around 5 pm, it's now about 1:30 am).
My friend has been using my old Dash since Friday night and hasn't had any problems.
The two problems with the phones seem really similar to me. Is this just a problem with the sim card? Or do I have terrible luck with my phones? I am going to go into the store tomorrow and would like to know if I'll need a new sim or need to try and exchange my Sidekick for a new one. Can T-Mobile change my number to a different sim in the store? Or do that at all?
Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions. Sorry for the long post too, I tried to keep it concise, but it was tough.
