$5.99 internet still working?

Does the $5.99 Internet deal still work for some people, or is it a regional thing? I did it several years ago, but it seems like it got turned off in my region after about a year. I'd heard that was happening so I canceled the $5.99 service. Is it actually still working nationally and the config just changed?

I always thought the $5.99 was required if you wanted to use mobile web on a non-smartphone for T-Mobile? If im correct T-Mobile doesnt allow users to do pay-as-you-go web for $0.03/kb like sprint or other carriers. Correct me if im wrong.

Sorry, your post made me realize I wasn't clear about what I was interested in.
I specifically was interested in if it's possible still to use a Smartphone and get general network access over the 5.99 plan. The information about configuring a Dash to do so seems like it has been kept up to date or updated as recently as May or June in some places. It's no sounding like though that it is specifically disabled for some users or regions(and I think I must have fallen into one of the two).

Your only choice may be the Total Internet for $19.99 if you have a smartphone.
