Default Unable to use H@H UMA with Verizon FiOS router?

Hi Everyone,

I had been using my BlackBerry Curve on the H@H service for over a year and had no problems. Last week, my Verizon FiOS router died, and they had to send me a new router.

I set up the router, and now my H@H service is no longer working. I have built a new profile, entered the new WEP key, etc.

When I called T-Mobile, they told me that certain ports/settings needed to be open. When I called Verizon, they advised me that nothing has changed with my service, and I just received a newer version router. I asked about opening the ports, and they advised me that they are open.

The funny thing is - the UMA service DOES show on my phone. It is working for text messaging, etc. But, when I make an outbound call, or get an inbound call, the phone will disconnect (saying CALL FAILED) within the first 2 seconds of me answering or dialing the number. It will then switch to EDGE and recycle for about 30 seconds before it switches back to UMA again.

Has anyone else had similar issues? Could you help me? When I call T-Mobile and Verizon now - they keep pointing their fingers at each other and saying that the other person needs to help me. I'm getting nowhere, and starting to get frustrated.

Can somoene help?

Just some additional information...

The router they give us is an ACTIONTEC MI424-WR router.

I have switched the settings to the following based on other information that has been posted on these boards:

Fragment Threshold : 2304 (256-2346)
RTS Threshold : 2304 (0-2347)
Beacon Interval : 50 (20-1024 ms)

Unfortunately, although it still says UMA on my screen (and works for texting, etc), every time I try to make a telephone call, I hear 1-2 seconds of the inbound/outbound call, and then I get the message "CALL FAILED" on the screen and it disconnects.

Does anyone have any other setting information for me that I can change/update on the router? It has tons of options, and I'm willing to make any changes that will help my UMA service work again!

Thanks.

Robert

Verizon gives you a modem/router with the FiOS service.

I was told that I don't HAVE to use their router, but the service performs better with their router.

We just started with hot spot at home. We already had verizon fios router. The Blackbery Curve is NOT compatible with the Fios router. This is per new tech people at T-mobile. We can BUY AT ADDITIONAL COST a t-mobile router to plug into the verizon fios router.

We are probably going to cancel the hot spot at home and just use a minutes program.

There are some tech issues that make fios not work with the hot spto at home. This just has not been communicated to the sales staff....

I really want FIOS but it's not available in my area, that really sucks they make you buy more hardware to use the services the offer. =/ Where's the savings?

I have a slight variation of the posted problem. I have that same router (Actiontec MI424-WR) and people I call can hear me talking but I cannot hear them. I am trying to work thought it with TMo right now but was wondering whether anyone ever solved this problem short of dropping the service.

thanks,

jeff..

Perhaps. I spent almost 2 hours on the phone today with TMo and got nowhere other than their changing the channel on my router. I then spent about 30 minutes with a helpful FIOS tech who went through many steps with me all to no avail. Did you change any of your settings on your router to get your phone to work?

I decided to buy the TMO Linksys Router and set it up as a separate wireless network. It's connected to the Actiontec router and I am have no problems.
