Default Getting a HTC Touch Dual

Hey all. Noobie here. Been following this forum since it started but first time posting (after introductions of course).

I’ve been using a Samsung T809 flashed to a D820 (thanks to simple to follow instructions by Nwahs posted in another forum) for over a year now. I’ve been wanting to get a device that had windows mobile and thought it was finally time to upgrade. I finally decided on the HTC Touch Dual (should be getting it any day now). From what I understand its tri-band (GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900). People on other forums have complained that the dual didn’t work well on ATT because of the lack of 850. I am assuming that it should work fine with T-mobile since it predominantly uses the 1900 frequency band

Does anyone else have this phone and how do you like it?

Regarding data packages, would T-zones suffice?

Any advice or direction would be appreciated

Thanks in advance!

Yes, the HTC Touch Dual will work fine on T-Mobile.

The standard $5.99 T-MobileWeb internet package should suffice, depending on your mobile internet needs. Certain ports generally do not work without the $20 Total Internet plan, and if you need VPN access then you won't get it.

[Side note: I wonder why the heck ppl have been complaining about it not working well on AT&T? They must have been in 850-only areas, or AT&T service sucked in their area to begin with]

Thanks for the info!

I would be mainly interested in surfing the web, use google maps and access my gmail. I understand that I may not be able to go to all sites with T-zones. Will I be able to access gmail?

Shouldn't be a problem to do any of that.

Most of Minnesota outside of the Major Metro areas TMo is roaming on Cell One 850 band (now becoming ATT). I think there are some other large areas of the country as well where you need 850 band when you're roaming. I have native TMo service where I live and work, but when we go up North in the Summer, I need something with 850
