Current Wing users or Windows Mobile users

I was curious about the Wing and other Windows Mobile phones! If you let the phone completely run out of battery, does the phone delete all the content in its memory, like contacts, and other content of that nature???? I really would like to know cause I am one of those people that never end up putting the device on the charger and then oops phone is dead !!!!!! Thanks!

I have let my phone die (Wing) and everything was still there once I got it charged.
I had to use the wall charger that came in the box once it got that dead, it wouldn't charge with the car charger.

No, most likely there will be nothing missing when accessing your data again. Just like when you power down your device and you get that msg. saying :' turning off your device may cause you to lose some of your data".

I've never lost any data that way, just a precautionary warning that TMO/WM must say in case it does happen.

I've dropped the wing and had the entire battery come out(while it was on) and all my data was there once I booted back up.

Prior to Windows Mobile 5, this was the norm. You had to keep the device charged or you lost all programs save to memory. Your storage card items remaind but, contacts, calender and apps saved on the phone had to be reloaded. It's the number one reason for back-up apps on Windows devices.

Also, prior to WM5 there was no real way to cut the device off.

Yes, amazingly WM6 seems to have solved this issue, although I don't understand how it has anything to do with the operating system. It seems to me that it would be a matter of the data being written to something more permanent, like ROM. My guess is that newer devices use a less volatile memory type that doesn't get wiped out when the battery is dead but I'll admit, I'm talking out my ass here.

My old HP iPaq used to do that and it made crazy. I would have trashed it but I had to use it for work. I left my Wing for over two days with the battery completely removed and all the data was there when I powered it back up.
