| I can confirm at with the way the system is setup now, you will NOT be billed for usage overseas as long as you only use H@H / Wifi. In the future they may turn some type of IP restrictions on, however that will not happen until everyone moves to IPV6. The reason behind this is simply because so many IP's are registered in different countries then they are used due to the shortage of IP's. Right now, if you turn the Mobile network completely off, and just use the Wifi signal, all calls will be free (assuming you have the H@H plan, or will be deducted like normal domestic minutes if you do not have H@H.) The reason you are getting mixed answers from T-mobile is simply because the reps. have not been fully trained yet, and some managers insist on stating that the roaming will be charged because they do not understand the backed system is different then the regular cell tower network. As a person who has traveled many times and used H@H overseas, the only comment I have is that sometimes call quality can be inferior due to the added latency of the longer VPN tunnel from the U.S. |

| This info was great. Even got me to register. Thanks again! Question... What do you think about H@H/TF working on a Cruise ship? Wi-Fi throughout the ship is .50 cents per minute.. would it be possible to log in via phone, make calls then disconnect? I assume whenever I'm connected I'd be paying .50 cents per minute. This would be much cheaper than the $4.99 per minute TMO charges for Cruise calls. Thoughts? |

As far as the roaming prices go, I didn't check my bill, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't charged extra for roaming. Ecommerce confirms my suspicions with his experiences, so enjoy that. The main issue to address is UMA on a cruise ship. I successfully connected through the cruise ship on my Pearl (You have to login with your user & pass), and after turning the wi-fi off and back on, it realized it would try to connect and I had UMA! I used the connection to make a couple of calls, and at $0.375 a minute, I beat out ANY roaming rate. There was a slight delay, but much less than I thought there would be with the satellite communication. I was able to have a 6-minute conversation with only a couple times of repeating myself. Anyways, I'm very impressed with the service, and am very excited to know that it works! ![]() Cheers! |

Thanks for posting your experience on using UMA on a cruise ship! It'll come in handy next time I go on a cruise! ![]()
