Default Cancelling my contract...

I have a question for everyone...

I need to cancel my contract with T-Mobile. I think I am probably in a contract, so I will have to pay the cancellation fee. Here's my question...

I would actually like to keep my T-Mobile phone for a while as a pre-paid line. Is that possible? Or, do I need to get phones with another carrier (pre-paid) and port my number to them?

Thanks!

Robert

why not keep your contract and just go on a really low service plan, the minutes will be cheaper than pre-paid minutes and you wont have to pay a $250 cancellation....

if you only have say 3 more months of your contract, you can get a $40 plan and only pay $140,

but if you cancel, you will pay $250 plus the amount for the pre-paid cards...

You're right. I called them, and they said they only prorate contracts within 180 days of the end of the contract.

I tried cancelling my contract, thinking that they would prorated it, but they said that only new customers after july 2008 qualified for it. So it wont work. Also, if you change your plan, they'll renew you contract. think carefully before you act. eitherway they got u by the neck.

I give T-Mobile credit for their typically good customer service and policies that make them appear significantly less evil than Verizon and AT&T. But the prorated ETF is a subject of much debate and one where T-Mobile really needs to pull their heads out of their asses.
