Thumbs up Suncom members who want to cancel with T-Mobile

Hello

I just thought that I would get this information out to all former Suncom members that are now T-mobile customers. T-mobile will allow you to cancel without you having to pay a cancellation fee if you cancel by October 20th, 2008. You can call T-mobile but they will only accept the cancellation in writing. Send your cancellation request to:

P.O. Box 190028
Charleston, SC 29419-9028

This is true because my best friend works for T-mobile.

If you write in to cancel, can you still retain your cell phone number to have it ported over to a different carrier? I heard the same thing you wrote about from a friend and she went to Verizon, but I am not sure if she needed to keep her number or not. I do because that number is on all my business cards and I have had it for almost 6 years now. T-Mobiles service has sucked since they took over. All my calls take 2 - 3 attempts to get through, even to my voicemail! I have to laugh when I read about how our service is going to be so much better with the 400 towers they put up. I drop calls all the time and my coverage sucks now at home and at work! So when my friend had told me I could get out of the contract by the 20th with no penalty, I was relieved! I didn't know they required it to be in writing though. Thanks for confirming that for me. I hope you can tell me about the porting issue when you get a chance.

Hey, I thought you should know if you cancel by writing to the address, they will probably still stick you with early term fees. I wrote to the address as I was told by a T-Mobile rep and I now have a 526.00 bill for canceling the 3 lines that I had. T-Mobile customer service argues that I was told I would be charged the fees, but I wasn't...AND you must carry your number over to another provider BEFORE you cancel your account, or you will be stuck getting a new number. So not only did I get charged fees, I now have to replace all of my business cards, etc that have my old cell number. Good times, I tell ya. I don' t think I should be forced to become a T-Mobile customer if I don't want to, so they can bite me.
