According to T-Mobile, all systems for re-upping users prepaid phone minutes (online, phone-based, and refill hotspots) are not only currently inoperable, but have not been functioning correctly for the past three days. As a result, no minutes can be added to customers phones, but T-Mobile says that users of its prepaid service can continue to make calls from their phone with no charge until at least 11 pm tonight, even if they have no minutes remaining. The company hopes to correct the problems they're having by this evening, and we'll bring you more info as it becomes available. In the meantime, use this freebie to catch up with grandma!

Update: Just to clarify, as far as we know this problem is affecting T-Mobile customers in the US. Also, the representative with whom we spoke said that calls would be free until 11 pm -- we have yet to hear an official announcement, however, so proceed with caution.

I have an extra T-Mobile ToGo sim card and tried it out- it works.

Important notice: Everything is free once your balance is 0. If you still have a balance, you will still be charged until your balance is depleted, at which point it's free to make calls, send texts, etc.

Actually, it's just voice calls (to numbers in the U.S. only) that they are allowing you to make for free. Messaging and t-zones are suspended once you hit zero balance.

As of yesterday 7/30/2007 at 4 p.m. central standard time text messaging with prepaid was also free

I have a balance of 41 minutes, and calls and texts are free, thats as of today, yesterday I was being charged.

i still have over 1000 mins left on my 2go balance... i guess i dont get to use anything for free...would be nice though, lol id prolly end up calling all my friends overseas if i was getting free mins though...

As of this evening, prepaid account balances are still not available through T-Zones. It's been like this all week...

The postpay balance is out now! On T-Zones, an error comes up "page not found".
