Default 80% Probability that TMobile gets the iPhone

We still don't know when AT&T's exclusive contract with Apple will expire, but that doesn't stop the continued rumors of the iPhone expanding to new carriers in the United States.

Usually it's Verizon Wireless that we hear is close to signing up to service the iPhone, but a report in Cult of Mac on Wednesday says it's actually T-Mobile that "is very close to getting the iPhone in the fall."

The report quotes an anonymous "highly placed" source at T-Mobile, who says the negotiations between Apple and the carrier are in an "advanced stage" and that it's "80 percent likely" the phone will arrive on T-Mobile's network in the third quarter.
Say what?? That would totally change things up for TMobile. As it is, the cellphone provider ranks 4th amongst the larger companies. But, something like this could definitely mix things up for the competition.

Like it or not, the iPhone is a seller and people would get one if given the chance. How do you think this might change the way the public sees TMobile?

So, is it going to be a 2G/EDGE iPhone4 or have they got an AWS model under wraps?

I got play around with an iPhone 3GS for a about 20 minutes a couple of weeks ago. It seems to be a nice device. I was using my AT&T goPhone SIM and was getting 3.5G. The UI was slick, consistent and smooth. I still don't see what all the fuss is about but it was nice. My Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, also on AT&T goPhone (same SIM) got faster GPS lock than the 3GS.

I'd get one if the price is right. I have a contract ending this month so I'll be getting something. I was looking at the Garminphone but who knows.

Hahaha - for real - it should happen this year according to rumors. But, we know how those go. Check out this article I found today:

Lets look at something else, T-Mobile USA is been on the news and on many blogers because they are really expanding their HSPA+ network all around the United States, this is Anoter sign that maybe T-Mobiel USA was getting ready for an Iphone launch very soon, and if T-Mobile is smart like they seem, expanding national wide will increased the chances of a good deal and a great move to sell the iphone really fast all around the United States.

Also the T-Mobile's Internet is way faster then all of the other 3G carriers in the United Sates.

Also this will help out T-Mobile in terms or growing or getting mroe customers, since is the smallest carrier in the United Sates, and if T-Mobile dont act quick, maybe will be forced to marge with Sprint/Nextel or just maybe sell to some other company, in few words go out of business.

In Conclusion, YES the chances of an Iphone on T-Mobile very soon is YES very high chances more then 70% but about the July 30 launch, Dont thinks so. maybe give it to September.

Here is more from this story - this time, the reports are that the iPhone will be on Tmobile but it will be the 3GS not the iPhone 4.

Quote:
Here is your daily Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) stock news and rumors for September 9, 2010. The T-Mobile iPhone returns to our rumor wrap-up, and word on the street is that T-Mobile will get an Apple smartphone before the end of the year — but it’ll be an iPhone 3GS, not a 4. Meanwhile, analysts are upping their predictions for Apple’s 2011, seeing 28 million in sales for the iPad and maybe an iPhone for another telecom as well.

T-Mobile Gets iPhone 3GS Release, No iPhone 4: Rumors of Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT) subsidiary T-Mobile USA getting the first iPhone outside of AT&T (NYSE: T) have been quiet lately. Earlier this summer, particularly in the weeks following the iPhone 4’s infamous release, word was that T-Mobile, not Verzion (NYSE: VZ) as many expected, would be the company saying, “There’s an app for that!” by the end of 2010. After a period of quiet, though, those rumors are back with a vengeance. Wired editor Chris Anderson posted the following on social network Twitter: “A T-Mobile manager casually mentioned to me that they’re going to get the iPhone 3GS (but not 4, oddly) later this year. Common knowledge?”

As some have pointed out, it’s telling that Anderson sent out a message on Twitter rather than filing a news story with Wired.com, indicating that he didn’t put much stock in the T-Mobile manager’s word. Still, it would line up with previous rumors. Just two weeks ago, Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu said that, while it was unlikely Apple would release a CDMA iPhone with Verizon this year since both companies want their initial offering to be a technological leap over current smartphones, it would be “premature” to rule out a lower tech iPhone from T-Mobile this year.
I added the bold on certain text for emphasis.
