Default number of voicemails indicator

Is there a way to see how many voicemails you have besides calling the voicemail number? Is there some sort of indicator?

Good question. I think the answer is no. Even on my Dash I can have 3-4 voicemails, but it still just indicates 1.

my pearl only displays the mini-cassette tape icon... no numbers next to it.

What is with that??? I find it to be annoying that they don't use counters anymore. My old Nokia phones used to tell me that there were a certain amount of voice mails in the system. The WM5 & WM6 phones should all have that capacity to have it added into their programing with a small software update. I bet it is already there, and that it is a T-mobile server thing.

I really wish they had voicemail counters. It'd be nice to know how many voicemails you have especially if you are coming back from vacation. I don't know about you but if I have a ton of voicemails...it makes me feel special as weird as that sounds.

It would be "superficially nice", but IMO, I just don't see VM counters as an "essential" feature. If I see that someone left me a VM, and I want to check it, then I check it (which is usually the case). If I don't want to check it, or don't have time to check it, then I leave it until I have an opportunity to check it.

Besides, you usually should get a Missed Call alert on your phone anyway, whether the person left a VM or not, so at least you'll know how many calls you missed and who they were from. And having a VM counter doesn't really help if you don't have a phone capable of "visual voicemail" that you can delete without calling the VM center (which is the VAST majority of users WITHOUT iPhones). You still have to call in and listen to your VM before you can delete it, so it doesn't really matter how many VM's you have since sooner or later you're going to have to eventually listen to all of them anyway!

visual voicemail has been around for non-iphone devices for a while now. it's definately not a new thing... but i agree, no big deal if there's no counter...

Counters aren't really an essential thing to me. I just check my voicemail anyway, it doesn't matter.

I think in my case a counter would be annoying as hell, like a reminder of the fact that I absolutely HATE checking my VMs. As the number gets higher and higher it would feel like a nagging mom trying to get me to clean up my room or something LOL I know, I'm weird!
