1) The email client. It's really quite barebones and from what I've read, it does a force-check, in other words, it doesn't automatically check the mail for you.

2) Can't multi-task. Can't listen to music and text? Seriously?

3) The browser just seems kind of clunky from reports.

Now, keep in mind that I haven't seen the device in person, and can be horribly, horribly wrong. So I'd be delighted if I'm wrong.

The whole idea of instant email wherever I go is basically intoxicating, in that it makes me think that I can't live without it. Also the expandability of the software on Smartphones/BlackBerries just seem amazing.

My New Every Two is up on January 24th and I'd like to make my mind up the week before so I can get my order in at my local RadioShack so they can order it. I need some serious help. In more ways than one.
If I were you, I'd upgrade to the Samsung SCH-u940 when Verizon Wireless decides to release it.

P.S
I just got my firmware on my Voyager updated and I'm loving the changes! It also works with Bitpim flawlessly as well.

Well, my little e815 is chugging along on it's last stretch. The battery is bad, many random crashes, and I can't really wait an undefined amount of time. Although I must say that it does look very nice.

I think I'm actually staying on the Pearl bandwagon unless something radical comes out and changes my mind.

I have the pearl...I bought it when it was first released and I thought I didn't like it (the pearl). I instead exchanged it for the Q9m...not that Q9m isn't a great phone, it just annoyed me that I was paying $45 for data on it...after selling that phone to a buddy of mine, I used my 8700 for a little while till I could upgrade again...I just bought another pearl and I've realized it's the phone for me. Granted, I wouldn't mind a full qwerty, but Suretype really isn't even all the bad...especially once it learns some "colorful" words...

Default Re: LG Voyager

here's my review copy and pasted from phonescoop.com:

I have owned this phone for 3 weeks now. I got it as an upgrade through CSR because the store was out of stock.

PROS:
- large screens
- QWERTY
- loud speakers
- fast menu
- more inbox space
- ability to change fonts
- html browser (well, half html)
- mobile tv (though i don't have the service)
- good camera
- thin
- touch screen
- loud ringers
- strong vibrate

CONS:
- touch screen sometimes not responsive
- browser doesn't display some web pages right (Twitter: What are you doing?) or lags
- no flash on camera
- small glitches when typing with QWERTY (it always adds "i)" when I type out "(" in a text message)
- when receiving a message the entire phone freezes for a few seconds before getting the notice of a new text message
- takes a bit of getting used to scrolling on the touch screen
- only 2 display themes (Color and Black & White)
- lack of ability to multi task

Overall I like the phone. The cons are just things i've noticed. They could have done a better job on the things I listed though (don't know about the typing glitch though, anyone else have this problem?)

Overall it's good. I prefer it over the iPhone because of the presence of a physicall keyboard. But the browser is only decent. One of the better Verizon phones out, IMO.

I'm not having the text message,QWERTY keyboard, nor web browser problem. I do hate the inability to multi-task though, which could easily be corrected by releasing yet ANOTHER firmware update with the coding included in it.

Yea the Multi Task is a big Con as well as the whole phone freezing before receiving a text message. Other than that, i am extremely happy with it.

I finally got to play with the Voyager and the Pearl today at a Verizon store. I finally got to use the browser on my own and reports are true: IT'S SLOW! At least for me it is. I could do faster on my dial-up connection.

The touchscreen just wasn't to my liking. Maybe it's because my fingers are kind of big, but once I started typing on the Pearl, it was very nice. When I tried to dial a number on the Voyager, the first time I pressed the same number twice (337 instead of 327) and then I hit # instead of 9. Like I said, maybe it's because I'm clutzy, but I wasn't too sure about it. Also, the scrolling I did not get a hang of really.

Although I will say the autofocus camera was AMAZING.

Just have to get my mom over the fact that the BlackBerry data plan is $30/month even though I'm paying for it.

The BB data plan is 30/month? That is crazy. What all do you get with that package?

Unlimited Data (via handset, including app's like Opera), and email...includes an @vzw.blackberry.net address too...

In reality, it's only $15 more than VCast anyway, and VCast doesn't include push email...which is the heart and soul of a blackberry anyway...

Firmware V07 has been released while V09 is currently in the works, and will feature MULTI-TASKING (listening to music while texting, scrolling through menus, etc.). I will keep you updated on the actual release date.
