Hi All,
For those who have a T-Mobile Dash, there is an "E" icon that is displayed to left of the battery indicator. Is this the indicator for EDGE service? I noticed something peculiar. I live in the Northridge area in Los Angeles and traveled to San Francisco two weekends ago. I noticed that the "E" icon was much bigger while I was in San Francisco. Does this indicate how strong the EDGE coverage is, wherever you are? If so, has anything changed with the network recently? Because when I came back home, the "E" shrunk again to the normal size...but just yesterday and today, the "E" has gotten bigger again and did not shrink (yet). If this is an indicator of some sort, does that mean my EDGE coverage has gotten much stronger? |

Probably, i just heard in Palm Beach the service got better in certain areas. The "E" means EDGE on a Dash, so that could be good news for you! And yes, a bigger E means a stronger EDGE connection.

Excellent! I hope that's what it means! Thanks for your response! Now, I'm just waiting for the Curve to drop on the 24th.

I can confirm that in deed it is an indicator os strength. I usually have a big E on my dash and the last two days I've been on the road and it shrunk to a small E and also a small G for GPRS and finally a large G. So I would say its a sign of signal strength.

Wait a sec.. Maybe it's just cos we have EDGE in Topeka, but I have the E that replaces the little antenna T symbol along with the big E in the middle of the top screen portion. Does that mean if I go to a city with faster EDGE, one of the icons will be larger..?

That T symbol is just a little picture of the antenna next to the bar strength indicator. When you first power the phone on, it'll show the antenna. Once the phone does any kind of data access the antenna changes to a E or G.

It's not a T per se, it looks like a martini glass with a line down the middle and with no bottom, like a phone pole basicaly.

The 5.99 plan still uses EDGE, TMo is just cool like that. It's because of that, we hope the 5.99 and 19.99 plans will have access to UMTS
