Apparently, iPhone users have been complaining of spotty reception and this hardware would improve that - of course, at a price.

A pilot program was tested in North Carolina where results were favorable. Here is some of the information provided:

Only customers who have an AT&T landline or DSL service from the carrier are eligible for the unlimited calling plan. However, the unlimited call plans offered at an extra $20 apply only to voice calls, Coe told MacNewsWorld.

Interesting.....yet another awesome ploy to make more money.
