Default What Internet Speed Do I Have?

I don't know what internet speed I have. I have Verizon DSL. I had 768K DSL with a contract a while ago, but the contract expired. So the price went up to the month- to -month cost. It says under the month to month plan that it is for 3.0 Mbps. How do I know if they increased my speed from the 768 to the 3.0? Each speed test that I do says different.

From the Verizon Speed Test, I got 715.1KBits.

This is what I get from speedtest.net .

I get 424.32 Kbps from McAfee.com - Internet Connection Speedometer .

Does anyone have 768K or 3.0 Mbps DSL?

Well according to the speedtest.net results, you are getting 2.7Mbps. I'm on RoadRunner's standard package which is up to 7Mbps and I normally get around 6.7-6.8Mbps.

So I guess that means that they did put me up to the 3.0 Mbps.

i may break down and buy a wireless card for da laptop, im jealous of all these fast connections u all have lol :P i just use a cheazzy fone for tethering cause its only 20 bucks for 3 mos. when im teaching, i dont really have alot of time to spend online, so it wouldnt really be a benifit for me to go broadband again...unless i host my webpage and forum again...for using all open source apps it wasnt to shabby of a setup though...

i wouldn't bother with netzero 3g. it'll be about the same speed as tethering. it appears all they're doing is running a content-caching proxy server to boast their claims of speed. perhaps maybe even the posibility of compressing the packets (gzip, perhaps?) for transmission and then their cilent decompresses them... according to their disclaimer page (NetZero - Free Dial Up Internet Service - High Speed ISP - Net Zero Internet Provider - Netzero.com)....

NetZero HiSpeed 3G may not be compatible with proxy based software or services such as content filters or firewalls. NetZero HiSpeed 3G is only compatible with Platinum service and specified browsers. Available only for Windows.
imho, stick to what you have.
