NEW YORK (AP) — A man slashed a 56-year-old psychologist to death at her Upper East Side office clinic and seriously injured another therapist who tried to help her, police said. Police initially said that a meat cleaver was used in Tuesday night's attack, but on Wednesday said that another knife may have been used as well.
The psychologist was identified as Kathryn Faughey, and a manhunt was under way for a suspect who police believe may have been one of her patients. The attack happened at about 9 p.m. at Faughey's office on East 79th Street, police said.
A male therapist who attempted to help her was slashed in the head, face and arms and was in serious condition at a hospital, police said. He was not identified. "I saw emergency crews rolling out a body covered in blood with a sheet over it," said Alexandra Pike, who lives across the street from the office building, according to Wednesday's edition of the Daily News.
Faughey, a licensed psychologist, described herself on her Web site as a specialist in cognitive behavioral therapy, which focuses on changing thoughts that cause feelings or behaviors.

How crazy is this? I guess you forget that the patients in therapy have really serious issues...I wonder how this will change the field of face-to-face therapy?
