If so, they will be shutting down their services and requiring everyone to use Yahoo Music Jukebox. I got the email to migrate my info and songs, over to the Yahoo software, but Yahoo's program is buggy since the migration tool that is supposed to help you move things over from Musicmatch to Yahoo's jukebox isn't coming up even when u install the new software that is supposed to have it.

Here is what they say:

Musicmatch Migration Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Migration Assistant and why do I need to do this?

As you may have heard, Musimatch is now part of the Yahoo! Music family. The same team that brought you Musicmatch products and services over the years has been working hard to bring you the next generation of world-class music services.

In the near future, Musicmatch services will be discontinued and you'll need to switch to the equivalent services from Yahoo! Music -- Yahoo! Music Unlimited to replace Musicmatch On Demand, and the Yahoo! Music Jukebox to replace Musicmatch Jukebox. That means you will no longer use Musicmatch Jukebox to access your music subscription; instead, you will switch to the Yahoo! Music Jukebox and get the added benefits of an upgrade to Yahoo! Music Unlimited.

The Migration Assistant will quickly and easily help you transfer all your Musicmatch account information to Yahoo! for seamless and uninterrupted music enjoyment. The process is self-guided and quick, and will help you:

Convert any account information from Musicmatch to Yahoo!
Carry over your saved music settings from Musicmatch Jukebox to Yahoo! Music Jukebox
Transfer your music library of subscription music and local (ripped) music from Musicmatch Jukebox to Yahoo! Music Jukebox
Upgrade your music subscription from Musicmatch On Demand to Yahoo! Music Unlimited
Transfer any music download balances you have with Musicmatch to Yahoo!
Transfer your Musicmatch Jukebox Plus key (if you have one) to Yahoo! Music Jukebox Plus
Once you complete the quick, online migration process, you'll have all your music account information ready for use with Yahoo! Music, plus you'll still be able to use your Musicmatch Jukebox. (Your Musicmatch On Demand account will be closed when you upgrade to Yahoo! Music Unlimited, so you won't be able to access Musicmatch On Demand once you complete the migration process.)

How do I start the migration?

You should have received an email from us regarding your subscription renewal date, or a service announcement about your Musicmatch Jukebox. In that email is a link to the migration upgrade page. Click the link and the process is self-guided.

If you did not receive an email, or do not have it, click here to begin the process. In either case, you MUST download the latest version of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox from the link above, or in your email, to get the Migration Assistant built in. Any other versions will not allow you to migrate.

What if I choose not to do this migration process? Can I stay with Musicmatch?

Musicmatch services will be discontinued at some point in the future. Many of the features you have now with Musicmatch are offered with Yahoo! Music, as well as new ones, plus a much larger library of music.

What does "Account Merge" mean?

As part of the migration process, the Migration Assistant will automatically transfer your account information from Musicmatch to Yahoo! This includes your billing information and payment methods such as credit card information. The information will be transferred securely, and with your permission. Once completed, you will be billed by Yahoo! for music services in the future, and will no longer be billed by Musicmatch.

In order to transfer this information, we must associate and merge your accounts. During the Migration Assistant process, we will ask you to sign in using your Yahoo! ID (or to sign up if you don’t have one) and then to sign in using your Musicmatch ID. This process allows us to locate your Musicmatch account information in our database and associate it with your Yahoo! ID. Once the accounts have been merged, the information will be seamlessly transferred. You will then check and update your account information with Yahoo! To view your Yahoo! Billing Account Information, click My Account in the upper left corner of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, or go to: http://billing.yahoo.com

Why do I need to upgrade my Musicmatch On Demand subscription?

If you have a currently active Musicmatch On Demand subscription, you should upgrade to Yahoo! Music Unlimited to continue your subscription music service. Musicmatch On Demand will be discontinued at some point in the future. At this point, we are offering this easy-to-use Migration Assistant to help you seamlessly migrate your music subscription from Musicmatch to Yahoo! Music.

Why do I need to convert my Musicmatch Jukebox Plus key to Yahoo! Music Jukebox Plus?

The software features of Musicmatch Jukebox Plus are part of the single installation of that program. To get those features, you needed to have a license key on that computer for that specific installation. With Yahoo!, your new desktop player will be the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. The Yahoo! Jukebox recognizes your Plus feature by your login ID, not a license key ion the computer. Your Musicmatch key will not work with the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, so the Migration Assistant will upgrade you to Yahoo! Jukebox Plus if you have an existing Musicmatch Plus key. An added feature of Yahoo! Music Jukebox Plus is that it's not tied to your specific computer - you can log in anywhere in the world with your Yahoo! ID and access all your Plus features.

How do I migrate my Musicmatch Jukebox Plus key to Yahoo! if I don't have a Musicmatch account or ID?

No worries. Just start the Migration Assistant as indicated. You'll be asked to sign in first with a Yahoo! ID (or to sign up if you don't have one). On the next screen, where it asks your for Musicmatch account login, just click Skip this Step. Later on in the process you'll enter your Plus key and you'll be given Yahoo! Music Jukebox Plus.

What is the difference between Musicmatch Jukebox and Yahoo! Music Jukebox?

The same engineers who brought you Musicmatch Jukebox are the leading developers of Yahoo! Music Jukebox - the best of Musicmatch and more. Yahoo! Music Jukebox shares some of the same core features like playing, ripping, burning, organizing music as well as music services like radio, subscriptions and downloadable music. In addition, Yahoo! Music Jukebox offers unique features like the ability to share through Messenger Music and instant music rating while listening.

Musicmatch Jukebox and Yahoo! Music Jukebox are completely separate music players. The Yahoo! Music Jukebox was created as the next generation music player with more flexibility and the latest usability enhancements. As part of the migration process, your music library and settings will be seamlessly transferred from Musicmatch Jukebox to the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.

A Musicmatch Jukebox Plus key will not work in Yahoo! Music Jukebox Plus. As part of this migration process, you will enable Yahoo! Music Jukebox Plus features if you currently have a Musicmatch Jukebox Plus key.

What is the difference between Yahoo! Music Unlimited and Musicmatch On Demand?

Yahoo! Music Unlimited offers a catalog of more than 2 million songs (twice the selection of On Demand) and you also have the ability to take music with you on supported portable devices with the To Go option.

Why do I need to transfer my download credit?

If you have a download credit with Musicmatch, you should transfer it to use with Yahoo! Music Unlimited and gain access to more music than with Musicmatch.

Download credit is basically cash that you (or someone else) have placed in a Musicmatch account for the purpose of buying burnable downloads. During this migration process, we recommend you transfer your music services from Musicmatch to Yahoo! The Yahoo! music services replace your Musicmatch services, plus the library of music in Yahoo! Music Unlimited is larger. If you have selected to transfer your music subscription from Musicmatch On Demand to Yahoo! Music Unlimited, we will automatically transfer your Musicmatch download credit to Yahoo! Music Unlimited, also for download credit. If you have opted out of transferring your music subscription at this time, we will still offer you the option of transferring your download credit. We recommend you accept this, to get access to more than 2 million songs.

The download credit will be transferred automatically from Musicmatch to Yahoo! Music. During the Migration process, you will be shown the amount of download credit in your Musicmatch account, and the corresponding amount to be transferred to Yahoo!

To check the amount in your Yahoo! Music Unlimited download credit account, click My Account in the upper left of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. On your account page, see Gift Certificates and Coupons. This will show your current download credit balance (once transferred from Musicmatch).

Downloads from Yahoo! Music Unlimited are high quality burnable WMA files that can be played and saved as long as you wish. Yahoo! Music recommends you back up burnable downloads to CD or other media in case something happens to your computer.

How long will my Musicmatch Store credit last?

If you do not transfer your Musicmatch Store credit, it will continue to be valid for Musicmatch Downloads purchases for as long as the Musicmatch Store is open. Be aware that the Musicmatch Store will be closed at some point in the future.

What happens to my Musicmatch Radio Gold stations and subscription?

Yahoo! Music offers a high quality streaming radio service called LAUNCHcast. Many of the same programmers behind Musicmatch Radio now work with the top-notch developers of LAUNCHcast to deliver a great radio experience. To see a guide to the available stations in LAUNCHcast, click here.

If you have a subscription to Musicmatch Radio Gold, you will be offered the corresponding service with Yahoo! Music, or additional offers to upgrade to Yahoo! Music Unlimited.

Will my customized Musicmatch Radio station be converted to a customized LAUNCHcast Radio station?

If you have personalized Musicmatch either by selecting artists you like, or opting in for automatic personalization based on your listening habits, then a custom "My Station" will be waiting for you in Yahoo! Music LAUNCHcast after you migrate. Look for LAUNCHcast in the left menu of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. You can refine and improve the music played on My Station by rating more artists in Yahoo! Music wherever you see the 4-star rating tool.

Why do I need a Yahoo! ID?

Yahoo! services are designed to provide our members with the most personalized experience possible and a Yahoo! ID is the key to making this possible. A Yahoo! ID is free and easy to set up, and allows you to tie your music recommendations, subscription accounts, Plus upgrades and track download licenses together. If you make any purchases with Yahoo!, it's also easy to make payments through Yahoo! Wallet if you have a pre-established Yahoo! ID.

What if I have more than one Musicmatch ID?

If you have a subscription with only one of your Musicmatch IDs, we recommend migrating that one first. You may use the Migration Assistant multiple times with multiple Musicmatch IDs.

Once you complete one migration process, click Migration Assistant in the left navigation pane in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. This will start the process again. When you come to a screen asking for your Musicmatch ID, enter the next Musicmatch ID you wish to migrate.

Will this cost me anything?

Subscription services: If you have an active Musicmatch On Demand [or Radio Gold] subscription, upgrading to Yahoo! Music Unlimited will not cost you any more - plus you'll gain access to a far larger library of music at no additional cost. When you agree to upgrade from Musicmatch to Yahoo! Music Unlimited, you will have full access to Unlimited, and your Musicmatch On Demand account will be closed. You will not be re-billed until the end of the term of your original Musicmatch On Demand subscription term. Your new billing date will be sent to you when you complete the upgrade.

Jukebox Plus: If you have Musicmatch Jukebox Plus, your Plus key will be transferred at no charge to Yahoo! Music Jukebox Plus.

Other services: If you have no premium services with Musicmatch, transferring your local library settings will not cost you anything.

Will my Musicmatch On Demand subscription still be active after I transfer?

No. Once you transfer to Yahoo! Music Unlimited, your Musicmatch On Demand subscription will no longer be active. Yahoo! Music Unlimited offers you a larger library of more than 2 million songs, so your new subscription service will offer you even more music choices.

Will my Musicmatch Jukebox Plus key still work in Musicmatch?

Yes. Even after you transfer your Musicmatch Jukebox Plus key to Yahoo! Music Jukebox Plus, you can still use the premium features found in the version of Musicmatch Jukebox Plus that you purchased.

What happens if I start the migration process but do not finish?

If you leave the Migration Assistant during the migration process, the next time you launch Yahoo! Music Jukebox you'll be asked if you'd like to resume migration. Or, your can manually select Migration Assistant any time from the left navigation pane in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox.

Why did some of my Musicmatch On Demand bookmarked tracks not appear in Yahoo! Music Jukebox from my library? What about my playlists?

There may be minor discrepancies between the Musicmatch On Demand and Yahoo! Music Unlimited catalogs. On occasion, the name or reference to the same song or item may not be identical. If so, you can search for the missing song, album, or artist in Yahoo! Music Unlimited, then add it in the format it appears in the Unlimited catalog.

Your playlists should convert seamlessly. As indicated above, there may be subscription tracks in those playlists that are not recognized by the Unlimited catalog. You can use the search process outlined above to locate and replace those tracks.

I got an error message during the migration process. Can I try again?

Yes. Simply exit the Yahoo! Music Jukebox and start again. If the error persists, try shutting down your computer and restarting it, then restarting the Yahoo! Music Jukebox. If the problem continues, please contact Customer Support.

Why have some of my CD burning settings not been transferred exactly?

CD burning in Yahoo! Music Jukebox is already optimized for your computer. If you need to change settings for a particular burn session, you may change them for that session.

I don't want to migrate anything. Can I get rid of the Migration Assistant?

Yes. The Migration Assistant can be suppressed, however we strongly recommend that you complete the migration process before dismissing it. To dismiss it permanently, click Don't Show Again on the first screen. You may always click Migration Assistant in the left navigation pane of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox to reactivate it.

I upgraded my Musicmatch On Demand subscription to a Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscription, but I want to go back. What do I do?

Once the upgrade process has been completed it cannot be reversed. When you migrated to Yahoo! Music Unlimited, the balance on your On Demand subscription was transferred to Yahoo! Music Unlimited, and your On Demand account was closed. This was described during the account upgrade process. If you're not satisfied with Yahoo! Music Unlimited you can cancel at anytime, however you will not receive a refund for the current subscription term. You will continue to have access to your account through the end of the agreed-upon term and your subscription will simply not renew.

Where do I go for more help?

Click here to find out more about Yahoo! Music Unlimited and the Yahoo! Music Jukebox or you can contact Customer Care.

What happened to my saved Musicmatch Artist Match stations?

Radio stations are currently not saved in Yahoo! Music Jukebox. Navigate to artist pages in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox to find "Fan Stations" from LAUNCHcast Radio that offer a similar experience.

Will the track and album downloads I purchased in the Musicmatch Music Store work in the Yahoo! Music Jukebox?

Yes, the Yahoo! Music Jukebox supports tracks and albums purchased from the Musicmatch Music Store.

I have unredeemed Gift Certificates or an Allowance balance for the Musicmatch Music Store. Will that transfer to Yahoo! Music Unlimited?

When you log in to the Migration Assistant using the Musicmatch ID that your Gift Certificate or Allowance balance is associated with, you'll be able to transfer that value to new Gift Certificates good for downloads in Yahoo! Music Unlimited. Allowances are not currently available for Yahoo! Music Unlimited, so Musicmatch Allowance balances will be transferred to you as one-time gift certificates redeemable for downloads in Yahoo! Music Unlimited.

Here are some complaints from people that use the MusicMatch Jukebox service that are being forced to switch to the Yahoo version which supposedly has less features:

Yahoo! Message Boards - Yahoo! Music Jukebox and Yahoo! Music Unlimited Feedback - CLASS ACTION SUITE !!!!!!!!!! (http://mb.music.yahoo.com/music/Support/threadview?m=te&bn=mus-ymefeedback&tid=4093&mid=4093&tof=2&frt=2#4093)

I agree with the people. I like MusicMatch better. I don't like how Yahoo's software is. Plus I hate that exclusive DRM crap.

Winamp here too, but lately Im becoming an iTunes convert unfortunately. I had to dump my entire library (~60GB) into it for use with an iPod and one of my phones, its just easy to click shuffle and let it go, especially since I never made a Winamp library. Too bad I cant skin stupid iTunes like Winamp.

I used to have musicmatch once, but I am no longer using it because it's unable to encode ogg vorbis files (better fidelity with same bitrate)
