The My E-mail feature is no longer offered with the new Windows Mobile devices (Dash, Wing and future devices). These devices have a new e-mail solution. My E-mail will be grandfathered on older Windows Mobile devices (MDA, SDA, IPAQ, etc.) and users on those plans will still be supported.
Details
The My E-mail phase out will impact customers that use any of the following E-mail Service Providers (ESPs).
Earthlink.net
Mindspring.com
Adelphia.net
Charter.net
Optonline.net
Cox.net
Bellsouth.com (users will be unable to send unless they use them BellSouth as their ISP)
Small independent servers

These ESPs allow a user to receive e-mail on a Windows Mobile device, however, they do not allow the user to send e-mail from the device.
This is because the ESP server blocks access from any unrecognized or unapproved IP address. This limitation is imposed by the ESP to minimize spam and is not controlled by T-Mobile or the device manufacturer.

From what I understand, Microsoft has come up with a solution to allow the device to identify itself as a mobile device to the mail server. If the mail server is able to identify that it's a mobile device, it will allow the device to connect.

I was just getting ready to make a new post asking about this. My "issue" is my ISP is TimeWarner Cable Roadrunner (former Adelphia customer). I can receive email on my Dash fine, but cannot send (I get the message "Error 550: relaying mail to xxx.com/net is not allowed". I see in the OP that this is not allowed anymore, but is there a way to work around this? It's really frustrating to read email and not be able to respond until I get home. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

Yeah, it kinda sucks to have read only e-mail. But ISPs set up their servers like this to minimize the amount of spam flowing through their servers. Its not very effective, since it only inconveniences users more than it fights spam. :P

This may sound a tad bit ignorant to anyones specific situation/reasoning, but why does one use an ISP provided e-mail address? They are usually only provided to you as long as they are your ISP, should you decide to switch ISPs, you'll probably loose your e-mail address.

I personally prefer a more permanent, and free, e-mail address solution like G-Mail or Hotmail. And before you tell me that everyone you know already has your old e-mail address and e-mails you there...you can always setup an automatic message forwarding feature on your ISP e-mail. I know Road Runner e-mail has it. Forward the message to a g-mail account, receive on your phone, and reply on your phone via G-mail.

This way, should you decide to change ISPs, you'll always have a permanent G-mail address.
