I've been a T-Mobile customer (per say) since 1999, that's before they were T-Mobile or VoiceStream, they were Powertel, a local phone company.
Back in the day when you had to put the whole SIM card into your phone, haha.

I'm in there from 1999 as well, but they were already VoiceStream here. I still remember modding my Nokia 5190, and then my Nokia 8290. I was changing housings and LEDs on both of them. I also used LogoManager to make and upload logos as operator logos. Of course at that time they were what were considered wallpapers, lol. I actually still have my 5190 and 8290. I changed all of the LEDs on the front board in the 5190 to blue, and the screen LEDs on my 8290 to blue. They keypad LEDs on the 8290 were brighter after changing the screen LEDs to blue, so I left them that way. I have a crystal clear housing on each of them, too.

where's the poll?? anyway, i've only been a t-mo customer since early may of this year. do i win a prize for newest??
i used to live overseas, in chile. my pcs provider during the mid-to-late 90s was entel. from 98 to 02 i had a land line. then i went back home to chile for a couple years. when i returned, i had a land line for a year, then somehow managed not having a phone for a whole year. i got a nextel and my 2yr contract with them ran out in may, so i jumped ship to t-mo because they had the cheapest BB plan, good shared plans, and the fact that i could get two blackberry pearls for free with t-mo :)
so, our first bill just came in today. eek! it's $140 + $70 activation + taxes ...

Like a few others, I've been with T-Mobile/Voicestream since the 5190 was the HOT phone. I then upgraded to a chameleon-green color 6190 that everyone thought was the BOMB. I started on a family plan when I lived at home, my Mom still uses her Voicestream SIM.
In 2004 I lost my phone so T-Mobile suspended my account for me. Little did I know at that point, they changed my account number and I lost the previous years I had spent with them. So now they thank me for being a customer since 2004, and I curse at their idiocy.

Since November 22, 2006....though I have to admit once my employment with them ends I'll be thinking long and hard about a switch back to att. It really doesn't pay for me to have t-mobile since half of everyone I speak to on a regular basis is on att. Not to mention I already have 6 lines with them already.

i've been with T-Mobile since November of last year.. i went to Sprint for two months (keeping T-Mobile active for EDGE PC Data).. that was a mistake!, received a total of two bills from Sprint and both were screwed up, so i just left.
Will be 4 years in Oct. Moved from Sprint as there was no SPCS signal in my house, so I changed and have not looked back.

Switched from AT&T Wireless to Aerial in January 1998. I think that may have been when we got the Nokia 5190's. I just traded in the SIM card I got with that phone a couple of hours ago. I told the sales rep I thought I was having some problems with the phone recognizing the SIM card. he took one look at it and swapped it without any questions.

Add me to the VoiceStream list. I have been a customer since 2001.
When researching for a new plan, I liked what GSM had to offer and VoiceStream was the only carrier that offered GSM.

I've had them since Voicestream as well, back in 1998, it was on Mom's account, then once i turned 18 i pulled my line out into my own account. Now i have 2 lines, one for voice, one for data!
Kinda sucks though, my tenure was reset in 2003 when i got my own account, booo!!!

It was early 2000 or late 99 when I signed up. It was still Omnipoint. Got a Motorola Timeport L7089. If I remember right the Voicestream takeover occured the same week or at least within a few weeks of my sign up. I got it because I was travelling alot internationally at the time and our corporate MCI calling card rates were crazy.
Before that I had the old ATT WS with a dual mode TDMA/AMPS Nokia.
Before I moved to the US I had a NEC P3 on the old Cellnet in the UK but the company paid for that. I remember when they introduced voicemail. My buddy thought I was playing a joke on him - in his words (well cleaned up) 'Who had an answering machine on a cell phone?' Well it was 1991!

Started out with Sprint Spectrum sometime early in 1995. It was the only GSM Carrier in my area. In 1998 or 1999 Sprint want to TDMA and I was told it would not abandon its GSM customers. They lied and in 4 months they shut the GSM network down. It was later taken over by Omnipoint which was bought out by VoiceStream, which I have been with since April, 2000. My first GSM phone was a Nokia 2190, which I still have, and when I joined VoiceStream I got a Nokia 6190, which I also still have. It was a great phone. Now use the BB Curve (8320) with HotSpot@Home. Have owned a cell phone since October, 1984.

Been with T-Mobile since 1999 when it was Voicestream here, still have my rate plan from 1999 and recently added "Total Internet".
3000 anytime min. $49.99
Toll Free Nationwide $6.99 (turns all minutes into "call anywhere")
300 Text Messages $2.99
Total Internet Add-On $19.99 (T-Mobile HotSpots, GPRS, EDGE) Unlimited Use
1000 Weekend Minutes $0.00 (Holiday Promo which lasted 5 years?) lol
$79.96 + taxes, etc.
I have gone over my minutes allowed once, just barely, about 3 years ago.
I just sold my GC89 Network Card and went to "tethering" my phone using EDGE Network. Speed test reports anywhere from 197k - 225k so far with one week. I'm using it while making deliveries connected to my notebooks works awesome.
Will upgrade to faster network when available through them.

Like a lot of others, I started with Omnipoint, then Voicestream, then T-Mob for about a year and a half, then left. Tried AT&T, Sprint, Qwest, they all sucked. Had Cricket for the last 3 years, then I rejoined T-Mob in December of 2007 because I really wanted the Shadow, and for someone on a limited budget, they have the best deals for their plans, so unless they start doing like Verizon and overcharge for everything, I'm here to stay :D

6 years for me. Signed on with Voicestream and got the Samsung Q105 phone with it. I've periodically checked the other carriers for better deals when I was "off-contract", but T-Mobile always seemed to be cheaper for me. (Family plan + Mobile-2-Mobile + Unlimited messaging + Unlimited Wap Internet). In fact, I just renewed my contract and upgraded to the @Home serivce. It works well so far, the only disappointment is I had to use the T-Mobile branded router. :( My generic Wireless-N router did not play nice with the 2 UMA phones I have.

I've been with T-Mobile since it was VoiceStream, probably circa 1998 or 99 when I started driving and my mom gave me my own cell phone. I actually just upgraded my phone last night and they had to switch me from my original VoiceStream SIM card to a new T-Mobile one! (And can you believe in all that time I've only had 3 different phones? Well, four since last night.)

My friend has that phone. I remember when she had that, and I had a measly little Samsung r225m. I was so embarrased, I never pulled that phone out when she was around. But, now all my phones are better than hers. And she be jealous cause I have like a new phone like every 3 months. But, I can't help myself, i'm obsessed with cell phones.

I still talk to probably a dozen customers a month rocking an r225. That was a solid device, along with the trusty 3390. Sorry to veer off topic. We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

Still rocking one, as of today? Wow! I guess it was a good phone for its time.

Wow, 13 pages later in the thread and find this forum.
Anyway, I have been a T-Mobile customer since early 1998 when they (then called Aerial Communications Inc.) launched their Digital PCS network in Minneapolis, MN.
Still have the same voice plan I started with, 1000 minutes a month. To get my phone I met my sales guy in a coffee shop downtown (a service you would never see nowadays). My first PCS phone was a Ericcson and for the life of me I can't remember the model. It was shaped like a brick (small brick) and had a flexible 1.5 inch antenna, had it for a long time! I remember one day receiving in the mail a new phone that looked just like the one I had, the note that came with it said that i needed to switch my battery and antenna and ship the old phone back because the old phone's software wasn't Y2K compliant. I still get a kick out of that.
Can anybody help me find a picture of that old Ericcson I had? I actually wouldn't mind having one again just for a backup.
Regards,
Bryan

I think I actually have the mobile you are talking about. Were the buttons clear, and it had a flip cover for just the buttons? I have this mobile in my attic, but I bought it used for backup, and it didn't have the cover. No pics handy, but I"ll try to find it, and use my new mobile to take a pic of it and send it.

I'm in the top ten OT users (That's Original T-Mobiler). October 2000, and I started with a Nokia 8290, and have upgraded probably, without exaggeration, 15 times. Have had the 1000 unlimited n & w plan forever.

1999--VoiceStream days. Have never thought about switching carriers. On price, customer service, international roaming, etc, T-Mo is the way to Go.

I've been with them since the VoiceStream wireless days, so however long ago that was. Sadly I may switch carriers when my contract ends later this year, as I'm really ticked off with them about a txt messaging overage I had early this year. In all fairness they did what I'd expect any of the carriers to do, but since they are the ones that did it to me, I'm specifically mad at them.

I've been there since 2000, when it was voicestream. I still use a voicestream SIM card. Never asked for a new one. My operator logo is even VStream.

Since June 2003. I have been through many phones. This may be changing in 2010 as they don't carry the phone I really want.

I've been with T-Mobile since Voicestream Days back in April 2000 - That's 9+ years. I love my new $49.95 unlimited loyalty plan. I just add 400 messages and I'm done. Once I upgrade my Dash to WM 6.1, I'll try the $5.99 internet plan, just for web browing and email. I love the Dash!! I put my AT&T land line on vacation on 'vacation' for $5 a month. I hope that the robo-calls go away after 6 months or so.

Been with them since the Powertel days back around 1999-2000. Can't remember all the phones I've been thru before landing in the current Blackberry. If only TMobile had anything to match AT&T or Sprint's wireless internet cards, I'd use them as my sole internet provider as well as phone. Pity they're always 2-3 years behind their competition in every category. Europe first, I guess...then Asia....then eventually, when the technology is about to be replaced, the US.

I added my line to the family account in February 2007 that was started, I believe with Voicestream and a monochrome screened Nokia.
I started with a Nokia 6103. That suited me for about six weeks. By April I latched on to a 6133, by June a Motorola V635 and now I am surrounded by mobile phones. My current new device, this week, is the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. This is going to have to last me a while. I actually am slowing down. My Nokia N78-3 I picked up in early November, so I went almost half a year, if you forgive the Nokia 5610d-2b my wife gave me for my birthday in March, between personal acquisitions. Of course this doesn't count the devices I picked up to play with and then move on like Blackberry phones, assorted Samsungs and Sony-Ericssons.
