Ok, I’ve just about had it with T-Mobile and after this experience I will never recommend them to anyone and will post on all of my very popular forums about this awful experience.

I have had the same phone number for several years on my pay as you go phone. This phone was previously owned by someone by the name of Martin and I have started receiving automated calls from T-Mobile that they need to speak to him about his “account.” I have tried to resolve this by phone and by email to customer service to no avail. I don’t understand this…T-Mobile is the one calling me, why can’t someone just tell your credit department that Martin does not have this number anymore. This isn’t rocket science.

Well why don't you just change your phone number or just ignore when t-mobile calling you. I have a new number as well, and I guess the precious owner has some problem with some company that now they call me here and there. All I do I recognize the number and just ignore their call. End of story.

Having a recycled phone number has inherent problems. I seriously doubt that AT&T or Verizon would be any better -- or nicer -- about it, but by all means try, using that same number.

I've found the best thing to do is to talk to them until they tell you it is about a legal matter. Then you tell them, "Oh, then talk to Martin's legal counsel." It sometimes takes two or three phones calls and asking to speak to a supervisor before someone on the other end will utter that magic phrase. Once they do and you lay that on them they usually go away forever. I am no expert in this but it has worked several times for me on various numbers. I am an attractant of numbers formerly owned by deadbeats. I suspect something about the laws governing collecting the pound of flesh and bugging folks who are known to have counsel enter into this odd turn of events.
