I know a few of you have the RIZR, and I am considering getting one with my partial upgrade discount. Those of you who have had the phone a while, could you tell me how you like the phone? I considered the 5300, but I am afraid of the fragile aspects I've read about with the 5300.
I'm mostly interested in phone, sms, and music player, as well as occasional photos or videos. I've occasionally used Opera Mini, but the ability to use Opera Mini is not a selling point for me.
I've read the various Phonescoop reviews, but I get the impression that many of the reviews were written by people who had only had their phones for a few days. I'm hoping to get insight from people who have actually spent some time with the phone.
Thanks for your input!

I might also add that I don't really "Need" a phone, as I have a perfectly good 6030 with a metallic blue faceplate. I like the looks of the RIZR and it looks like it could be a worthwhile way to use my partial upgrade. If I don't get it, maybe I can be patient enough to wait for the new 3G phones to come out.

I love my RIZR. Although I did have a problem last week with predictive text input freezing up the phone but Motorola can have buggy software to begin with, but I got my replacement and nothing is wrong so far.
Pros:
- Nice housing, doesn't feel cheap
- Pretty good pics taken with the camera
- Music player is pretty good, I haven't spent too much time with this part since I have a 30gb Creative Zen and don't need my phone for music, but from what I tried out for a little, it's easy to navigate and the audio quality is pretty decent for a phone
- SMS is pretty decent, I text a lot and have had no problems typing with the keypad. But I have pretty small fingers. Maybe it's a little harder for others with bigger fingers (i'm little lol) but it shouldn't be too much of a problem. And the keypad is like the RAZR's but feels better to type on, IMO.
- Reception is good, if you are in an area with good TMo coverage then this phone should do fine for reception. If you're in an area with a bit more spotty coverage, then you should get the 5300, since nokias have great reception (you should know this from your 6030 :))
- Slide is solid and not wiggly (though my replacement wiggles a bit when closed but that is because the stupid UPS guy dropped the box because there's a gate in front of my door)
Cons:
- Menu can be a bit slow (though a software upgrade should help it out)
- Motorola software can be buggy (I know this from personal experience >.>)
- um, that's all I can think of for now..
hope that helps, i'm not too good with reviews

I too was trying to decide between a 5300 and a Rizr and went with the Nokia. At first I wasn't sure I made the right choice, but since I have unbranded my 5300, I absolutely LOVE it. I now have all sorts of Java Apps and games on my phone and Opera Mini as well. The Nokia PC Suite makes compressing and transferring music a breeze and the music player is great and quite loud IMO. I have tried using my friends Rizr and it's more difficult to text with IMO, and I am a HEAVY texter. Sure the Rizr looks sharper, but I think overall the 5300 is a much better choice.

Thanks everyone for your input. Now that the new @home phones are available here, I have an even tougher decision!
