Has anyone purchased the 3G iPhone yet? What are the pros and cons of the phone? How is the build quality? Are you satisifed or disatisfied with the phone?

I have not yet, but plan to in the coming months. I say months because I'm not up for an upgrade just yet and shelling out 499 is a little too much for me at the moment. I did get a chance to play with it at the ATT store and while the phone is supposed to be 2 grams lighter than the original, it is pretty darn quick.
I have not yet, but it is tempting.

I am very impressed with the touchscreen phones. Sprint's Instict is an awesome machine as well. ATT's LG VU is pretty neat with the whole tv thing built in.
It's hard because I love my Tilt so much. hmmm

Yeah, the Tilt is pretty darn cool too - maybe an unlocked one for me??
Well, seems you have at&t so you wont need it unlocked, but if you do need an unlocked phone I know many sites that sell them. I also know a site that will unlock your phone for cheap. :)

If I may. I just talked to my good friend that used to use T-Mobile, but she just switched to AT&T coz she bought the Iphone 3G. She said it's all about stylish. Most of the time she just turn off the 3G system as it uses a lot of the battery life. She was kinda dissappointed but I guess she can't switch back to T-Mobile because she has 2 yrs contract with AT&T.

I can't justify it. I will be sticking with my original iPhone. I don't need 3G or GPS. All I need are the apps.

I admit it. I broke down. I bought one yesterday. I had a Razr before this. It was a great phone, but I really needed something I could check email on more easily, and do other online stuff.
I have to say, I love it.

Did you end up getting the 8GB or 16GB model?

I got the 8 gig. I would have liked the 16, but couldn't bring myself to cough up the extra $100. The 8 should be enough for me, though. I've been using a 2 gig iPod, so it's better than what I had on that front.

So what would you say are some of the pros and cons of the phone?

The biggest con, for me, is battery life. It's not that great. If I used it like I used my Razr (mostly just for talking on the phone, which I don't do that often) maybe it would last 2 or 3 days. As I actually use it, though, (check email, Twitter, play music, etc) I have to recharge it every day. Another con is that I haven't found a way to make my own ringtones for it. You can "make" ringtones for 99 cents each in iTunes (take on of your songs, select any 15-30 second piece of it, and it does the work for you). The thing I hate about that is that you have to pay an extra 99 cents to use songs you already paid for in full.
I'm not sure if this counts as a pro or a con: I am now totally attached to it. If I lost it, I would feel lost. It has my contacts and calendar, I use Google Maps (with GPS) to find everything, it's slowly replacing my old iPod, and I can look stuff up on Wikipedia anytime, anywhere.
The things I count as pure pros are somewhat superficial I think: 1) Total eye candy. It's beautiful. It works beautifully. Everything about it is pretty and neat and just plain cool. 2) Apps. I have an APOD app, a star gazer app, a Twitter app, a YouTube app, a chess app, games, a notepad, the Weather channel -- all either free or pretty cheap (avg $3 or $4). I even have one app (99 cents) that lets you read classic books that are public domain (Alice in Wonderland, Pride and Prejudice, Treasure Island, Call of the Wild, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, etc).

Well I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your new phone, do you think it'll keep you content for at least 2 years?

I should hope so :) I kept the Razr for a year and a half, so unless something weird happens I think this is it for quite a while.

I purchased the 'factory unlocked' version of the 3G iPhone in November. I bought it from Australia at almost $1000. but I do not need to jailbreak or use turbo card to use it on T-Mobile.and I can update the software without losing the unlocked advantage because it is unlocked at the factory.I am not a young person so I appreciated the large screen for my poor eyesight. it is a nice phone. I can offer no opinion about the web capabilities since I do not go online with my phones...The truth is, there are several things it will not do. such as voice dialing, picture messaging, video recording. it has no FM radio and the music player was not as loud as my iPod touch which I sold to help pay for the iPhone. in short I liked the phone but was dissapointed in it for several reasons. I just purchased a T-Mobile Behold and temporarily retired my iPhone. I like the Behold so far.

That's a very interesting account! Were you able to try the iPhone out before you purchased or were these things that crept in as you learned to use the new phone?

I didnt check it out well enough. I guess I thought as big as the buildup was it was a has all, does all phone.. I should have known there is no such thing. dont get me wrong I really like the phone. but I missed the things I was used to having on my s.e. P1i.. I really use the voice dialing. I think it is a great safety feature when driving.

:) That's what I figured. I wonder what your reaction would have been like had you seen some of these things before you purchased the iPhone?
In any case, you have a great tool in your hand and something that you can sell should you decide to. It's still a popular phone worldwide.

So what are YOUR thoughts? I actually bought one last March. I bought into the hype and left T-Mobile for it. It's a good phone, but I was disappointed there was no MMS! I will wait until Sept. 25th to see how that works out. I like everything about the phone, except the various prices charged to maintain it. Otherwise, it's a good phone.

I have the 3GS now actually, lol. I'm loving everything about the phone except true push e-mail support from Apples end (sort of how RIM does for the BlackBerry). I miss the simultaneous syncing of calendar and e-mail without having to wait certain intervals of time in between syncs.

Man, I'm so sick! I wished I had waited for the 3GS! I didn't know it was coming. I just watched the Guided Tour of your phone on Apple's website and I'm kicking myself! Lol!!

yeah, I love this iPhone 3G, Iam try to get it. I just know my dad using this cool. He tell me that it's a perfect phone with no problems. it make a call clear with 3G 8GB. This smartphone with full plastic back also added support for 3G wireless networks, GPS technology. I know this site with modern phones. You can see the modern phone with a reasonable price.
