My girlfriend is on the t-mobile pay-as-you-go plan. Is there a way to preview the hifi ringtones before buying them?

I've tried to contact t-mobile, but that was a waste of time.

No you can't preview ringtones before you buy them from T-zones. If her phone is capable of connecting to a computer either through bluetooth or a data cable just download ringtones for free.T-zone ringtones are a waste of money without a preview.
