I have a Nokia 6030 and I'm wondering if there is a way I can make my phone ring longer than 4-5 rings. Does anyone know if you can do this?

yes. you just need to input the appropiate GSM code. you will need to know your voicemail number for this to work.
**61*xxxxx**yy#
replace xxxxx with your voicemail number.
replace yy with the number of seconds you want the phone to ring before it forwards. the highest i've been able to get working is 30 seconds.

Yup, I set this on my lines a while ago. 30 seconds = about 6-8 rings that the caller will hear.

Time for a "stupid customer"-esque question: By "voicemail number," do you mean the number that voicemail calls that's a *different* number than your own number? The one that you can find in your menu somewhere?

thats actually not all that dumb............im pretty good when it comes to cell phones and i dont even know what that means by voicemail number............does that just mean the service center number?

hold down 1. it will dial your voicemail. that's the number you input there.

Yeah... unfortunately you may have more luck answering this question in a Sprint-specific forum. A quick Google search yielded this about Sprint's PCS Network:
"The ring cycle (time elapsed until a call rolls to Voicemail) is 23 seconds. The ring cycle cannot be changed. However, depending on the model of phone you may be able to change the ringer type. This will affect the number of rings you will hear before an incoming call rolls to Voicemail. See your user manual."
Therefore, from what I've found thusfar, there is NO way to change the TIME before the call goes to voicemail. However, it seems certain PHONES are able to "trick" the caller into hearing more rings (just speeding up the time of each ring) before going to voicemail (although that may not be the answer you're looking for). :(

its almost as if God is telling me to go back to GSM.............there are so many things you can do n GSM that you cnat do on CDMA............:D

If you're having problems, you can call 611 and have a CSR do it from their end. You may not notice a difference in ring time length instantaneously if you do it this way (I didn't until a few minutes later).

GSM is better, but it also depends on which carriers are available where you live and travel to.

well AT&T and Tmo are available in m area......but Sprint gave me SERO......i doubt ill drop it

Oh, uhhhhhhh... I think you have to type something like:
**61*+18056377243**30#
to extend your VM to 30 seconds (maximum). The 805 number should be replaced by your existing VM number if it isn't the same number.

On the Dash (WM5) you can set it under call forwarding. Most phones don't give that option though.

I tried that on my Samsung, and it says "Not Allowed".

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... if that's the case, then I would suggest calling 611 and having a T-mo CSR do it for you on their end... :confused:
