View Full Version : What car should I buy?
I'm thinking about buying a new/used car because I want better gas mileage. Currently, I have a 2002 Mazda Protege LX. I was leaning towards buying a used Honda Civic (2005 or 2006).
This is what I have currently:

And this is what I think I might get:

What kind of car do you have? What car would you suggest I get?

the 8th generation civics (2006+) are really brilliant cars and i really support your decision to get one. you should get an Si, but that's probably beyond the price range. you could also get a used acura rsx for around the same price. i drive a 2000 civic and love mine. oh, and make sure you don't get one that's autotragic.
that said, i would like to know what you seek in a car to really see what car is really what you want/need... how many doors? how much cargo space? engine size? drivetrain?
4 doors, 4 cylinder engine with at least some pep, medium to large amount of cargo space, automatic locks, automatic (ive had stick before), etc

then the civic will suit you fine... you could find an older (98-01) 4dr integra for a few grand less, but the 06 civic sedan is very nice :)
you should check out another forum i frequent: ClubCivic.com (http://www.clubcivic.com)
if you want, hit me up on aim and we'll talk hondas

An Ex of mine had a 2005 Nissan Sentra 2.0 SE 5speed, she liked it, I didnt completely hate it;) I have always had good luck with Nissans too, and that one was peppy enough w/o the overblown SE-R badging, etc.

I can't say I've heard anyone complain about their experience with Honda. I drive an '02 Saturn (by chance...), but I was driving V8 Caddy's before that...Going from 13mpg city to 25+ has been great.

My Mazda has treated me quite well since I bought it in March of 2005. I paid it off in August 2006 so whatever I sell it for I can put towards the new car. My Mazda has about 68,000 miles on it. When I bought it, it had been driven only 36,000 miles. That means I've put about 32,000 miles on it!:eek::eek:

WOW! How'd you pull that off?by keeping the basic rules of distance traveling in mind...
1. always bring food and drink
2. always pull over if you get drowsy
3. lots and lots of tunes
i also had a portable gas grill so i could go to a supermarket, grab some food, and cook it... i've been to and through over half the states in the union.... and here's the funny part: i'm not from here originally. i came to the us nine years ago. i'm originally from chile and i've already driven as far south as i possibly can back home... and quite north as well... but then again, i love to drive... i used to follow a band across the country on their tours, and i used to visit a lot of people all over. but i was younger then, and had a lot more free time... that and gas was barely over a dollar a gallon back then. i must've driven down every single road in tippecanoe county when i used to live in lafayette

Go for a new VW Jetta or Passat! When my truck got wrecked a few weeks ago, the rent-a-car agency gave me a Passat to tote around, and I love it!
That's absolutely crazy Anfrey. I've wanted to take a trip to Europe for some time now. I've been to Spain and Portugal but I'd like to visit more countries. I think if I ever have enough time/money, I'll go. My mom has thrown the idea out to me that after I graduate from college this fall, she and I should travel to Europe. I'm not sure about this...I mean..going with your mom to Europe? Ew, I'd rather go with a buddy. But if she pays for the trip...then I'd reconsider! :)
