I just dropped my Motorola RAZR V3 in the toilet last night. ARGH! I don't really have the money to spend on a new one and stupid me, I didn't buy the accidental insurance. Would you recommend buying the Nokia 6030?

If you are looking for a reliable, yet inexpensive phone then the Nokia 6030 will do just fine. The only issue I have had with it is that sometimes I drop calls. Yet, this could be due to my location as well. Oh, and I wish it had a camera.

I'm a little bias because I prefer durability over features. And don't worry, the Nokia 6030 has the speaker phone option!

I also have the Nokia 6030 as a backup. I think it is a great phone. The FM radio is a nice feature too. The signal, I have to say, is better then average. The buttons are pretty easy to press. It is one of the best cheap, low-end phones out there. I would recommend getting it.
Also, you can buy this phone for $30 so its a steal.

Where's the FM tuner on the Nokia 6030? I didn't even know it had one!

Yeah I think it would be a good choice to replace your RZR. Not only are nokia phones great and last long despite a large amount of abuse but they are pretty good and have good reception.

Nokia's are very good phones. I personally think they are the best with signal and the battery. You can get tit at Wal Mart for $29.99.

Menu>7>1 (be sure to have the headphone attached) You can also program the left soft key to access it. You do need to connect "an enhancement" i.e. your hands free headset.

I programmed my first choice for the left soft key for radio (FM.)

Nokia 6030 also has a speaker phone but the choice for speaker phone doesn't show til after a call is in progress then it will show as a right soft key choice.

If it's cheap (the prepaid version) I'd buy it for temporary use, sure.

It is cheap currently, really really cheap from t-mobile.com prepaid section. $30 plus tax, delivered. Comes with a $25 refill card and a $30 MIR. That is why I say really really cheap. A fantastic deal.

Don't buy it though if you care about this: TMO N6030 is called an RM-225. While a 6030 will run gmail java applet and opera mini, this one won't because java apps have been precluded from a connection. Precluded by design I believe.

The phone is butchered. Castrated. If you want a whole one goto Cingular Gophone site and buy a refurb one for $30 with no MIR and no airtime card. I use mine regularly and like it. The Cingular one is (or was) an RM-75 which is easy to unlock.

;) Diego can change all the problems, so i hear in my unlocking circles. Thats how we unlock them at least:D

Aside from that, phone wise, you cant spend a better 30 beans :)

Are you saying that the neutered aspects of an RM-225 6030 can be reversed? Details please!

I also have a trusty 6030 as backup. A great little phone that you can just throw in your pocket and not have to worry about.

I think that even if I could use Opera Mini on my 6030, it would be almost painful to spend much time reading it on the tiny screen. My 6030 does work well for viewing WAP sites such as my local TV station's weather radar.

I ended up setting the right soft key for the FM radio. My left soft key is the Go To menu, and I like it there. I have a small adapter that allows me to plug a generic handsfree in on the Nokia phone. I can plug the adapter in alone and listen to the radio through the speaker. Reception is degraded, but my strong local stations come in well. It is much easier to carry around the adapter than a wired handsfree earpiece.
