Decisions Decisions I migiht want this. T-Mobile is making it so hard for me. Now, I gotta decide between the Sidekick Gekko, the Blackberry 9000, or HTC Touch Diamond (not announced yet; but, by the info their putting out I can tell this is gonna bet T-Mobile's 1st Android phone).

I'd go for SE Z780 or W760 PAM
the lowest price to upgrade to HSDPA
however, bb9000 has TalkForever and 3G will be another story

Good news that it will be 3G for T-Mobile. I had posted earlier a link to a more thorough review (http://crackberry.com/blackberry-9000-smartphone-hands-review)for a 9000 (though it is not final spec'ed it's a good idea of what to expect).

Hmmmm...it says that the battery is built-in. God I hope that's not true. I also think it's funny how their customers said please don't get rid of the keyboard in exchange for a touchscreen. You know, because there just aren't any touchscreen devices out there with a full qwerty keyboard! ;)

I'm not worrying about price. I'm just worrying about what i'd like more, and what'd better suit me.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Research In Motion Ltd. on Monday introduced its first major new BlackBerry model in more than a year: the Bold, a high-end model that further demonstrates the company's desire to make tools for both work and play.
http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/TECH/biztech/05/12/new.blackberry.ap/art.blackberry.bold.ap.jpg The Bold has twice the screen resolution of the current Curve model, making for a very sharp display.

http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/.element/img/2.0/mosaic/base_skins/baseplate/corner_wire_BL.gif

The Bold, or 9000, has twice the screen resolution of the current Curve model, making for a very sharp display. It matches the resolution, but not the size, of the screen on Apple Inc.'s iPhone, which has emerged as a potent competitor in the "smart phone" category.
AT&T Inc. on Monday said it would be the exclusive U.S. carrier for the Bold.
It also has much more internal memory, a glossy metallic look, and adds corporate-strength Wi-Fi capabilities to third-generation cellular and Bluetooth radios.
Otherwise it stays close to the formula of the Curve, with a horizontal screen above a trackball and a keyboard with one letter per key.
Waterloo, Ontario-based RIM (http://topics.cnn.com/topics/Research_In_Motion_Ltd) didn't announce a price for the Bold, nor agreements with specific carriers. It said the phone would be available from various carriers this summer.
AT&T is the only U.S. operator with a cellular broadband network compatible with the initial Bold model. Later versions could work on the Sprint Nextel Corp. and Verizon Wireless networks, according to RIM co-chief executive Mike Lazaridis.
Don't Miss

<LI _extended="true">Get your BlackBerry out of bed! (http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/personal/05/12/blackberries.bed/index.html)
CNN/Money: The BlackBerry is in for a bruising (http://techland.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2008/05/12/the-blackberry-is-in-for-a-bruising/?for-a-bruisingthe-blackberry-is-in-for-a-bruising/)
Like the Curve and the Pearl, BlackBerry's consumer-oriented phones, the Bold has a full-size headset jack and a camera that can also capture video. At the same time, it has dual-band Wi-Fi, a feature previously only found on a model aimed at the corporate market.
The Bold will also have exchangable back plates in different colors, a first for a BlackBerry (http://topics.cnn.com/topics/BlackBerry_Mobile_Devices).
RIM also was set to announce a $150 million fund that will invest in companies creating software for BlackBerrys and other mobile devices. The Royal Bank of Canada and Thomson Reuters are co-investors.
The BlackBerry Partners Fund will be managed by JLA Ventures and RBC Venture Partners.

The move echoes Apple's March announcement that it would set up a $100 million "iFund" for the development of iPhone and iPod Touch applications. just cause it has the AWS spectrum doesn't mean it'll be FOR T-Mobile. Don't T-Mobile and AT&T have roaming agreements? This could be so that in those few situation you can't get 3G AT&T coverage, you can get 3G T-Mobile coverage? Just a thought though.

It means that the htc touch diamond is a Windows Mobile 6.1 handset. Meaning that android won't be the OS on it.

this is my worse fear. the bold will have the 1700 band, but also, blackberry, said, this will be the first blackberry witch will work also in korea and japan. i assumed that the 1700 band is for japan, becuase, remember, there also one version of the bb without 3g and t-mo will launch the new flip black berry.. so... maybe not 3g?

From what I read, AT&T was gonna get it some time this summer, than T-Mobile was gonna get it later this year

Points to ponder...

First reported by Fortune, the dazzling BlackBerry Bold will not be available in the United States until as late as August. This means Apple will beat RIM to the market in June with its 3G iPhone.

The iPhone is expected out on June 27, near the anniversary of the original phone’s coming out party.

When the 3G iPhone is introduced this summer, AT&T, the exclusive U.S. iPhone sales partner with Apple, will cut the price by as much as $200, according to a person familiar with the strategy.

AT&T is preparing to subsidize $200 of the cost of a new iPhone, bringing the price down to $199 for customers who sign two-year contracts, the source says. Apple is expected to have two versions of the new iPhone, an 8-gigabyte-memory and a 16-gigabyte-memory model with price tags widely expected to be $399 and $499.

A new product delay from June to August for the Bold would mean fewer phone shipments and lower subscriber growth which AT&T and Verizon represent about 40%.

How does all this translate for T-Mobile's intro price for the Bold, let's wait & see...

Rummors have it that Rogers Wireless (Canada's largest wireless carrier) will have BlackBerry Bold launch time frame as June 9th-29th from The Boy Genius.

He continues to say "the BlackBerry Bold date seems a tad early, so we’d guess it would be launched towards the tail-end of that timeframe. AT&T should either launch before that date, or soon after as we can’t imagine Rogers getting it first. But that’s our own prediction and not based off actual AT&T internal information."

TmoNews states that T-mobile to release 16 new phones by August? (http://tmonews.com/2008/05/t-mobile-to-release-16-new-phones-by-august/)

1. Nokia 5310
2. Nokia 5610
3. Shadow II
4. Nokia 2760
5. Nokia 1208
6. Nokia 6301
7. Shadow III (Damn, did we say that?!)
8. Samsung T339
9. Samsung T229
10. Blackberry Bold
11. Blackberry KickStart
12. Motorola W450
13. Motorola Rokr E8That leaves three unknown releases, given that all the listed devices will in fact launch in the next two months, which we highly doubt.

**UPDATE**

Rogers is now promoting the Bold on their website...

Rogers Communications - Wireless, Digital Cable TV, Hi-Speed Internet, Home Phone (http://www.rogers.com/web/content/wireless-products/bb_bold)

Considering the BlackBerry Curve has been selling for $249 on Rogers , a weekend price drop by a Rogers Dealer to $99 screams one thing... clean out some inventory cause the BlackBerry Bold is coming!

UPDATE: Just giving you guys a heads up on some important news from Rogers. My source at Rogers has just informed me that ALL managers have been told that there will be no time off for any managers during the weeks of June 23 - July 13. My source has candidly told me they expect that the Blackberry Bold/iPhone launch will be during that period along with a slew of new packages and (finally) revised data plans.

Come on T-Mobile... you should be next!!!

No pricing or release date have been provided but at least we know the BlackBerry Bold is "Coming Soon" and that within the USA it will be available "Exclusively from AT&T". You can check it out at ATT.com (http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/blackberry9000/?_requestid=66905). Let's hope this baby gets released SOON to T-Mobile!!!

It really depends. In the case of the iPhone... Negative one days. ;)

I think it's generally 3-6 months, depending on the carrier. Verizon is notorious for taking their sweet time while others get it right the first time and push it out.

The Andriod is the most likely but nothing official, rep didn't say anything about other phones. They are also bringing out an extended battery for the orig Shadow...

This is a bad move for tmobile. Instead of these low end nokia's and motorola's they should bring in more sony ericsson's, htc's, lg's and samsung's

According to the HTC rep who was in my call center recently T-Mobile have declined to take the Touch Diamond on board. The shadow 2 will have 6.1 as reported, he told me pretty much all the leaks on the phone are accurate.
