One thing i loved about t-mobile, was the freedom to use unlocked phones, and how tmob was super cooperative with support for phones that werent even tmob branded. now that the 3g switch it being turned on, that freedom is somewhat going away. with att using the 850/1900 and europe on the 2100... the selection of phones is going to be very limited... lets hope that tmob can brand some serious hardware or this 3g roll out may have just been for some crap ass phones that should really be pay as you go.

T-mobile has some pretty great HTC devices, Blackberries, SEs, Nokias, and Motorolas coming, all 3G.
You should see some exciting 3G phones by the end of the year...nothing like the Samsung T229 etc that keeps getting released now.

Boy, it's always something, isn't it? Somehow, I doubt TMobile was rolling out their 3G network with unlocked phones in mind.

I know this is bummer, but 3G just turned on yesterday, ericsson and Qualcomm have developed quad-3G chips, that we can expect multi-3G band phone will be available later this year

As long as I can still buy cool (to me, anyway) phones from wherever and have the T-Mobile US3G work - I'll be happy.
....well, that's assuming that I end up getting 3G in my neck of the woods...
