I think T-Mobile is the most liberal
the following month will be a challenge of internet usage, I expect to hit 4-5GB record due to slingbox streaming, even over EDGE

Excellent rate plans, compared to the other carriers. Has a proprietary 1900MHz network, to support Unlocked/unbranded phones. Unlike AT&T's required 850MHz band to get good coverage.

Their Customer Service. When I signed up I had a little problem with the number. I called in and talked to them and they fixed it. Then they gave me bonus minutes...and said "welcome to the family"
You don't get off the phone with customer service very often smiling...but this time I did....thats one of the reasons I have stayed with T-mobile

Reasons why T-mobile is the BEST FOR ME:

1) Price is lower compared to similar plan/add-ons on all other major nationwide competitors, (best bang-for-the-buck).

2) Coverage almost everywhere I go, and the signal strength is usually very strong (even inside most buildings) in SoCal. I get less dropped/failed calls with T-mobile than AT&T/Cingular in my area. Verizon may or may not be better than T-mobile in this respect, but based on some other people's opinions, T-mobile in this area is about on-par with Verizon. Once in a while I can't get a signal where Verizon users can (most of these occurances happen inside buildings), and sometimes I can get signal where Verizon people can't (for example, in the middle of campus).

3) Call quality is better on T-mobile towers than AT&T towers in my area (much less garbling, no robotic voices, less audible compression). As for Verizon and Sprint, I'm not a big fan of CDMA's call quality (ie: absolutely no background noise, caller's voice sounds like a low bitrate recording in a tunnel).

4) In general, T-mobile has the BEST customer service in the industry (believe me, I've "tested" them all). They actually treat you like an intelligent human-being (of course YMMV, as individual experiences differ).

5) GSM technology makes it easy to use unlocked phones on the network, AND use your existing (unlocked) phone on foreign GSM networks (especially if your phone is quad-band). T-mo doesn't object to giving you the unlock code to your handset as long as you're a current customer in good standing who hasn't requested an unlock code within the last 90 days. With AT&T/Cingular, it's very much a hit-or-miss, but based on what I've heard (and experienced), it's much more "painful" to try and "make" them give you unlock codes. This does not apply to Verizon or Sprint, since both carriers use branded phones without SIM cards that are "permanently" locked to their networks.

6) As far as prepaid goes, they are the CHEAPEST to maintain as an emergency phone. Just become a "Gold Rewards" member by filling at least $100 in your prepaid account, then top off your account every year with $10 to keep your account active and renew your expiration date for another year. T-mo Prepaid phones also make CHEAP replacement phones too (if you don't qualify for a phone upgrade through T-mo yet). Often Unsupported Browser (http://www.t-mobile.com) or Target has promotions on refill cards and prepaid kits too, making it even cheaper!

I'll add more on as I think of them... ;)

Is there a way that we can get old coverage maps from different months and years so we can see how T-Mobile's coverage has improved?

GSM 1900. Thats what sealed the deal for me. When I was looking into GSM, I noticed that a lot of the phones I wanted had no 850, and figured that a lot I would want in the future wouldnt either. Plus at the time I was a Cingular agent and they really didnt impress me CS wise while T-Mo did.

Excellent Customer Care and in-store reps! Friendly, helpful, down to earth, and more like dealing with a good friend than a company.

They don't charge you 3-5$ just to pay your bill like MetroPOS.. I mean PCS does.. I can pay my bill using their My T-Mobile WAP site.. I just asked when they would be offering Unlimited MMS again cos I'd want it and the rep added it after a talk w/ her supe.. I have 24 hour customer service, I just wish Cox Cable did too.. If it would send me ravioli and Bundaberg Ginger Beer via MMS when I demand, I would marry it.. lol
