I tried Shadow in person, and I don't like it (I'd prefer WM pro/classic)

I don't know...I've seen a lot of threads on a lot of phone forums where people ask if this phone will be better than that phone. I say this, phone selection is really a pretty personal thing. My choice is not going to be the same for somebody else - I have different needs and likes in my phones.

As to this one, some people may think that the Nokia OS is going to be superior to the Windows Mobile of the Shadow. While others will think the opposite. Personally I've never used Symbian so I have no opinion on that matter.

I just always say go and handle the phone and see if you think it's something that's going to work for you. Now, granted, that's not always going to be possible....

Anyhow, I think that both of these are going to be pretty cool phones. I've not owned a newer Nokia but I think they put out great kits, as well I have an appreciation for HTC devices. So there you go. :D

if it's N78, the answer is pretty clear
it's not OS matter, but the hardware spec
this is the VERY FIRST T-Mobile phone has 3mpx cam in US
too bad I already chose SE route, except Z10 is out

I was just using the Nokia OS vs. Windows Mobile as an example.

There are also people out there that don't seem to mind running outdated (some would say inferior) hardware either. Look at all the people that are still happily using stuff like the Wizard or other older ppc devices.

While having a 3mp camera on a phone is nice, not everybody uses the camera on their phones.

I agree, I played with the shadow, I liked the keypad, but found it laggy and slow, plus, sound was mediocre

I was never too fond of the Windows Mobile OS, especially after having the Blackberry Curve. The entire interface just seemed too resource-hogging. I'm curious to see what the 5610's OS is like. Is it similar to all the other Symbians, say the N-Series?

The 5610 will run on the 3rd Edition Series 40 user interface with Active Standby this is from the spec sheet here Nokia - Specifications (https://www.nokiausa.com/A4829002) ,will not be the same as a S60 but close.I may even try one and I do not ever buy locked phones, but this could be a exception as for the Shadow I had one for one day and sold it on craigslist,Microsoft software is just CRAP plain and simple,no matter what it is on.5610 would be a decent backup to my N95-3 NAM that I have now!:)
