The pearl was straight up ANNOYING me, I'm not a HUGE texter but I average about 1000 outbound txt's a month. I'm tired of suretype sending jacked up messages because I'm not paying enough attention to what the suretype is picking up. I need a full keyboard! Even though my SK3 is "old" I decided to go back to it, but it has some quirks like the speaker button doesn't do the down command (easily navigated by instead using the rollerball) and a hairline crack in the back of the frame for the screen near the swivel.
I call TMo yesterday to get back on the SK3 data plan and found out they discontinued the original smart looking SK3 in favor of the cheap looking LX and teenybopper slide. I'm gutted because I love the sidekick, but I refuse to buy either of those two.
There's a ton of new phones coming out but details on upcoming smart phone are iffy. Should I wait and just use my old SK3 and deal with it looking sort of rough, or should I just buy an interim phone until something I really want comes out?
I was looking at the Curve or the Dash. Suggestions between those two. Or again, should I just wait it out?

I think LX is quad-2G variation of SKIII
same from Sharp (I can't believe T-Mobile has exclusive of Sharp phones), and the reception is pretty good

I mean if you don't mind having your SK3, just keep it. I'm sort of in the same perdicament. I really don't have a phone right now to use my T-Mobile service. I tried both of the new Sidekicks, and they weren't all that great; but, I did prefer the Sidekick Slide over the LX. But, I really couldn't see myself with neither. But, I need a phone thou; but, I hear some supposed 3G smartphones will be releasing so I don't wanna waste my money on some old non-3G enabled smartphones. So, I think i'm just gonna get one of those refreshed color Motorola W490 phones until something good comes out.

Yeah, probably not. I really wouldn't say I want a ground breaking phone; but, a 3G Smartphone would be really nice about now.

I agre about the flip screen robak, it was always a little flashier than I would have liked and garnered way too much attention when using the phone in public. It's my opinion that you can TELL who the LX and Slide phones are marketed to by taking one look at them. I would like a more sophisticated design, while retaining the great OS and fun social features we've become accustomed to with the SK.
With microsoft aquiring danger recently I'm hoping we might that come true.

That's pretty much how I feel about all the sidekicks....that and I think they are hideously ugly but that's just my opinion.
I would say that if you really liked the RIM platform then why not go with a Curve or 8800 series, they have the nice full keyboard.

janice,
i just switched to the BB Curve 8320 from the Dash. i recommend the Curve! the Dash froze on me way to many times! the difference is like day and night! i now understand what the fuss is now with all those crackberry addicts! i also understand where your coming from with the whole QWERTY board thing. now that i've used the Dash and the Curve, i could never go back to Sure Type or anything else.

Yeah, SureType is about the only thing that would keep me from getting a Pearl. They look nice and they're a good size, but I just don't think that I would care for ST. Especially seeing as how I abhor T9....

I want the Motorola Q10. I know that has no relevance to the Pearl; but, I want it so bad.

Gem, what is the draw for you to the Q10?
Thanks mafabela for your input! :)

Nothin really. I just always wanted one of the Motorola Q's. I love Motorola, I love all the smartphones with the little QWERTY keypad, and I just want the Motorola Q10, it looks really nice too.
