hey guys, i just created this thread for everyone who owns an iphone using with T-Mobile, also for everyone who wants to share news or tips about this device.
i recently got my new one, nice device but like every phone in the market, it is not perfect.
The lack of using MMS, push emails ( besides yahoo mail ), the lack of using it as a moden, java and flash is bad.. Everyone hopes to get those features soon. but probably it wont happend in the near future.
the good thing is, everything is touch screen. that can be good and bad at the same time. but i like the idea to handle with just one finger or two.
nice 3 party applications make the iphone better and ofcourse , using a nice web browser with just 5.99 is just amazing.
i will write more about new features and new app for this phone.
btw, i just test the internet and it goes to 120 kbps.. not bad.

I think I may bite the bullet and get one sooner or later. Everyone talks about how the iPhone is a POS, but I think otherwise. I may get one, but then again I want my next phone to support t-mobile 3g...ah decisions decisions

well, so far the iphone has limitations, and the most important to me are : MMS, stereo bluetooth and share files using Bluetooth too.. the rest, email ( incluyed coorporeate ) is coming on june with the new update.. I really like the safari part. i never surf the internet like that.. so, we hope that in june , the new update will include some new features.. hope mms.. .
other point, if you want to use the iphone on t-mo, it has to unlock, you can hack it.. so, there are a bunch of applications you can install.. the iradio is my favorite. but there are some applicatios to allow to send mms, record video and more.. so, if you look it from this way. almost nothing is missing.

Yes it does work with Windows......
How do you deal with the poorly low spearkerphone on the iphone? I went to the AT&T store to do a test call, and even with the phone volume turned up on the speakerphone it was still low. Big let down.

I think the only thing that I would really like about the iPhone would be the browser. Still, though, I just don't think that I could give up an actual keyboard.

Its pretty easy to use once you actually trust it. I find myself typing just as fast as I do on my Curve.
Marco- the latest version of SwirlyMMS allows your iPhone to receive MMS messages as well. The only downside is the pictures are reduced in size, I'm not 100% sure if its from the receiving or sending end yet. To get the latest version, add http://swirlyspace.com/swirlyspace.xml to Installer
Oh, and I'm running 1.2 (First beta of 2.0 software update) =)

good you are runing the 1.2, my question is, when you unlock the iphone.. did you use the ziphone? i never tried before, i bought it already unlock.. so, i was reading and some people got a broken iphone..
if you did it, can you explain how? do u need to restore to the newest software or u just do upgrade?.
btw, i use the swirly mms but you need another application to view the picture, is that right?

Well, if I could pick up an iphone for a decent price I would consider using it as a secondary phone and try to get used to it. One of these days, maybe.

As for viewing the pictures, you need mobilefinder and preview as well. You will find that under Productivity in Installer if you have Community Sources installed. Once those are downloaded, enable System Access in mobilefinder and you have to navigate to var/mobile/media/mms and the pictures will be there (this is assuming you have 1.1.3/1.1.4, for any S/W before that, the path is var/root/media/mms)
Unlocking any version iPhone is easy with ZiPhone, just one click and done!
As far as 1.2 is concerned, I'm using a friends ATT SIM that he doesnt pay for. But the PWNAGE tool just came out today, so now I have a blank SIM in there since Pwnage can activate, but cannot unlock just yet. Once it does, I'll let you know. As for getting 1.2, you have to search for it unless you are a developer Apple picked and distributed to. I am not a developer, I "found" it. Search and you will find it my friend. =)

Haha, i hear ya, i got in on the 4gb for $100, sold it, and got in on the 8GB for $250, otherwise, I might not have. $400 is a bit too much. I'm not paying a PS3 price for a phone.....lol

No no att bill, I just purchased their phone and their receipt said "Activate your iPhone from the comfort of your home using iTunes" So...naturally....I didn't, and no problems. I didnt have to do a credit check or anything. Just paying my normal T-Mobile bill.
BTW marco, pwnage came out today, if you can *find* a copy of the 2.0 beta, it is unlockable and usable. I will point you towards the tutorials, as for the firmware, search Google.

I gotta tell you, I have no issues using my iPhone on T-Mobile, no reception issues and I travel the entire country, and its just as good as pretty much any other T-Mobile phone that i've ever used. You know, they say that the worst thing about the iPhone is ATT, so T-Mobile users have a plus there!

same here, the reception is really good, not problems with him in many places, i went to san francisco, atlanta and las vegas, and not problems, everything works great, the only thing i really wondering how i can fix it is you tube, it does not work with 5.99 t-mobile web, do you know if that works with that?
or you have to have total internet plan?

I have the total internet plan, but I did hear about a hack to use the $5.99 T-Zones. Personally, I dont pay my bill so I dont care, and the Total Internet Plan allows me to use Hotspot for my laptop. I don't remember where I saw the hack, but I'll do a search for you since I'm waiting at the airport before my flight leaves. Gotta love that iPhone when you've an hour and a half wait before your flight!!

Firmware 2.0 will work with either SIM, but the problem is that, unless you have the newest Beta, (which hasn't been leaked from what I can tell), the iPhone will have the Pink Screen of Death, meaning you cant use anything. And unless you are an Apple-approved developer, the iTunes and App stores will not even show up at all. 2.0 is pointless unless you are a developer, or have access to SDK apps that you can load up manually to your iPhone. It's pretty useless ATM though, I gotta say.
As far as using it, you have to be on 1.1.4, PWN your iPhone, and then you can load up 2.0 and it will remain unlocked. Just remember, older versions of the 2.0 beta no longer work.

Well it works i had to borrow an apple computer to do it but it is alive and kicking. As for itunes and app stores i really dont care to much. This is an ongoing experiment only as my main phone is a blackberry curve. This is just for the fun of it and trying to give apple an oportunity to redeemn my hate to them. But so far i still hate them let me have a working bluetooth i hated VZN for blocking my bluetooth and i dearly hate apple for the same. It is one heck of a phone but has so much left to develop.

I don't know about the iphone, but if it's like any other phone it shouldn't matter if there is a sim in it or not. I usually unlock my phones without the sim. Of course, the ipod touch is basically an iphone and can be jailbroken as well, and it doesn't have a sim...

What are you guys going to do since the new iphone has been announced and it will be Tri-Band 3G. No T-Mobile 3G AWS support. That sounds fine. This hasn't been confirmed that I know of, but if unlocked 1.1.4 phones can be upgraded to 2.0 as locked AT&T iphones will be able to, then you could probably get plenty of apps from Apple's new App Store.
I know a lot of people who are planning on doing that.

Unless Apple ties the App store to AT&T. They said wait til the official 2.0 firmware is unlocked before you upgrade to it.

that is weird.. i have been using the iphone for almost 5 months and really the reception is much better. i just came to sf and used to have horrible spots with not bars there using my v3 long time ago, but with this, no problems.
the touch screen is really good. my friend just got samsung glyde and really.. IT SUCKS!! horrible interface and UI. slow and i had to touch 3 or even 4 times before some function works.
i hacked my iphone and i have mms, email unlimited and more.so, mostly i have more of the basic functions.

the touch screen is really good. my friend just got samsung glyde and really.. IT SUCKS!! horrible interface and UI. slow and i had to touch 3 or even 4 times before some function works.
i hacked my iphone and i have mms, email unlimited and more.so, mostly i have more of the basic functions.
I'm not too fond of the Glyde either, the Voyager was decent while I had it though. The Dare seems to be much more promising than either of the previous 2, but I'm trying to stay away from "dumbphones" lol. The 3G iPhone will NOT be compatible with T-Mobile 3G, correct?

the edge will work but not the 3G part, is not compatible, the iphone 3g has hsdpa 1.4 in 850, 1900 and 2100 (Europe) but not the 1700 and 2100 of tmo

Thanks for the clarification. I figured it wouldn't be compatible with T-Mobiles 3G, but I justed wanted to double check though. If I can get my company discount with T-Mobile, I may pick up the new iPhone.

Well keep in mind that the new iPhone will technically work on the T-Mobile network. However, the new iPhone as sold will probably be locked to only work with AT&T. Last year it took a few months for people to figure out how to unlock the first iPhone to be able to be used on T-Mobile. It could take a similar amount of time for them to figure it out with this model as well.
So I would wait until the unlocking procedure has been established on iPhone 3G before making a purchase.
