Problems with Text Messaging

My friend on Alltel sent me a few text messages and I never received them. I sent him some text messages on my Verizon LG VX8100 and he never received them as well. It sucks terribly! Anyone care to shed some light on this issue?

I had a friend who had Alltel, and she was trying to text me (as well as me trying to text her) and NONE of the messages went through! I'm not sure what the cause is though, but this was back in November of 2007.

Same problem with Cincinnati Bell sending me text. I have talked to Verizon no less than 6 times and they keep saying we are working on it. I have had the problem since Dec 17th. I have e-mailed verizon 3 times, called 6 times and talked with support and the portal people and have talked with my salesman 4 times. Nothing is being done!!!
