View Full Version : CDMA BlackBerry Curve?

I was considering the Pearl as my business handset, but it only seems logical for VZW to release a CDMA version of the Curve along with it (to add variety to the current line-up). I prefer the QWERTY keyboard over the SureType keyboard, but I also don't want to wait forever and a day for VZW to release the Curve (if they will).

I figure they're bound to do it eventually; the real question is will anybody care by the time Verizon gets it out?
I mean, they just got around to giving us that new Treo.

True, but there's talk of the Palm Treo 800w being released by VZW when it becomes available. Who knows which handsets VZW will release once they get the 'Any Device, Any Apps," Android, and the 700 MHz spectrum.

Latest I've heard for a release is Q1 2008, probably February-ish.

Yes, over at Ho-Fo there are some "trusted" sources saying that it will be released Q1-08

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. Yeah, some people who've been very accurate have said that.

Which month: January, February, or March?

I believe it was February or March. I am thinking they are evaluating the pearl sales and when they start dropping they will release the Curve.

I think it was February/March timeframe. I've been reading that they've been giving the Pearl some time to "penetrate" the market, so to speak. I'd love for the Curve to be anonunced before the 17th though. ;)

Thanks! I've also been hearing that it will be a dual mode handset (CDMA/GSM)? WiFi?

There have been rumors of a "World Edition" Curve, but I'm not sure if those are still alive or not. WiFi, I will definitely say no to, sadly.

*Update*
If we get VZ Navigator (as is expected), don't get your hopes up for the Curve featuring WiFi as well. For example, take the 8310 and the 8320 (one features WiFi and one features GPS). Expect a late March or earlt April release for this handset.

The Curve will be released as a Q2 device, but an actual date hasn't been set yet.

You asked for ‘em, so here you go! Thanks to BBGeeks.com, we’ve got our hands on some of the first shots of what clearly appears to be the CDMA version of the BlackBerry Curve. This BlackBerry Curve 8330 looks pretty similar to the current GSM version of the handset, with a keyboard that looks identical to that of the Red 8310 currently available on AT&T. This should dispel any fear that the CDMA Curve would depart from the GSM version’s wildly successful form factor. We’re not able to tell much else from the shots, but we can confirm that this handset will include a GPS radio. No word on availability, but chances are good that we won’t see an announcement until sometime next month. Hit the jump for some more shots.

Possibly, but I'm leaning more towards the LG VX9700 as of now. We'll see how everything goes once both handsets hit the market

It'll be here tomorrow around noon, and I can't be anymore impatient than I already am lol. I'm on one of our AT&T demo phones right now while I'm bored at work.
