Check out the picture on that site. Google Maps has GPS now. I definitely like it. It is, in no way exact (about 5 blocks off right now) but it is 1. Better then nothing, and 2. Will deter me from wasting $150 for GPS. What does everyone think?

Haven't tried it. Recently tossed the data plan for my device - haven't been using data for a while now, but it sounds pretty sweet. I've done well with Google Maps without the tower location service thing, so getting a spot marked for my approximate location seems like it'd make it a bit more convenient.

Google FTW

(but I'm still buying GPS for my car, hehe)

Latest version of Google Maps doesn't work right with my Motorolas anyway--I can't scroll down. (There are numerous posts on the Google forums about that.) That's OK--I have a Garmin eTrex anyway.

It's not GPS, it locates you using sites/towers and it's an approximation. To get GPS readings in Google Maps or any program, you still need a GPS unit tethered to your phone or a phone with a built-in GPS (like the AT&T Tilt).
