Hey everyone! I'm Zach and I'm new here to CellPhoneSignal, as you can obviously tell. I come from the forum of much hate and crabbing so this is a clear breath of fresh air.

You may recognize me as MacFlauaus from the other forum and my website, MacFlauaus.com, or the writer of HighDefDelight.com

Well, that's about it for me. Thanks everyone!

Glad to see another fellow Verizon user on Cellphonesignal! I myself was a member on HoFo for a while, until I got tired of the the rude users. I hope you enjoy the staff here my friend.

Welcome to CellPhoneSignal! It's great to have you here! I'm sorry to hear that you haven't had such great experiences on other forums. However, you've joined a fun, positive, and friendly forum. Please let me know if I can make your experience here more enjoyable.

I like those pictures on your website main page... I actually searched around [unsuccessfully :(] for more; I'm pretty big on photography (though almost $1,500 of my gear was stolen recently - including the camera).

Welcome..."tech freak"... to a forum of no hate and crabbing. ;)

Thanks for the comments. If you would like, I'll put a Web Gallery up on the site sometime soon (maybe tonight) of my best pics. They're from a Fuji Finepix S3000 from like 2003. I really want a new one, but don't know what to get and also don't have the budget for a new camera right now.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone!

If you're sticking to a digital camera then stick to Fuji... I have had a couple Canons and a Fuji and a Nikon and an Olympus in the digital camera world (dSLR is another story) and the Fuji was the best, hands down. The Finepix F10 was an amazing camera in 2005... although apparently they are now up to the 12 megapixel Finepix F50fd. They have aperture/shutter priority now which is WONDERFUL, but 12mp is overkill IMHO... the Finepix F40fd has 8mp so that's good. Either way, it's absolutely wonderful at low light photography - I despise the flash in most situations.

As for your budget... once you have the money, it should cost you under $300 for any of those Finepix's mentioned. Only downside to those is you would be downgrading optical zoom from 6x to 3x so just an FYI.

Wouldn't mind seeing those pics if you put em up!

Really? Fuji is the best? I've heard so many conflicting things about all the cameras so basically I've given up and and am just sticking on research everything BUT cameras. Haha. As for the zoom factor, I've pretty much decided that if I want a smaller camera (which I do) then I'll have to give up the long zoom. Plus it never really worked well because my hands tend to shake and my current camera doesn't have the picture stability in it. Not that most cameras do, it's just that some cameras tend to do better with shaking.

I'll post the link to the Web Gallery on my .Mac account once the pictures are uploaded. Uploading them over dial-up (about 20-21) is a pain.

Fuji Finepix series seems to do excellent with shaking

Finally got the gallery uploaded. Took me two tries because the first time it timed out halfway through.

Click Here to go the .Mac Web Gallery, "Best Shots." (http://gallery.mac.com/zachflauaus/100024)

You can also find the link to that photo gallery and my new project, the 365 Challenge, at my main website, which I linked to in my first post. Don't want to seem like a huge cheapskate plugging all my sites in the first two days. :D

And also, thanks programmer!

You got a welcome from the "programmer"... impressive. Admin (Alex) always talks about him when it comes to upgrades, don't see him posting much - 2 posts as of now. Hehe, kind of like that one elusive character that lurks around everywhere doing all the technical stuff behind the scenes.

I am impressed by your photos, you have talent... I definitely knew it when I noticed you knew how to frame a portrait (the bridge in the distance framed by the leaves). Very nice photos, I could blather on about individual ones but overall I will say they're outstanding. With a dSLR you could open up your true potential...

One of these days I'm gonna have to start up a photography thread in that there Off-Topic forum ;)

Thanks! I inadvertently took the bridge I guess. It just turned out that well I suppose. I really wish I could get a dSLR as I think being 16, I could learn a LOT about photography and all the tiny details go into it.

Photography thread would be great to have everybody showcase their stuff.

Thanks again!
