BASKING RIDGE, NJ, and SAN DIEGO, CA — Verizon Wireless, the company with the nation’s most reliable wireless voice and data network, and LG Electronics MobileComm USA, Inc. (LG Mobile Phones) announced today the newest flavor of Chocolate by LG – Blue Ice. The newest addition to the Chocolate line-up, the silky-smooth slim slider design comes coated with a frosty blue finish and includes the must-have multimedia capabilities for the music and entertainment lover on your holiday list.

The Chocolate in Blue Ice includes the same features chocoholics have come to love, such as vibration feedback on the touch-sensitive keypad, navigation wheel with classic red trace motion lighting, and a microSD™ memory card slot that supports up to 4 GB of memory.

Customers who purchase the Chocolate will love the quick and easy access to V CAST Music, the Verizon Wireless service that offers more than 2.4 million songs for download over-the-air, and V CAST Video, which offers news, sports and entertainment video clips, 3D games and more. VZ NavigatorSM, a popular tool available on the Chocolate, includes mapping, audible turn-by-turn navigation and access to information on more than 14 million points of interest. A 1.3 megapixel camera, speakerphone and Bluetooth® headset capabilities round out the features wrapped in frosty blue.

Chocolate by LG in Blue Ice is available today for $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and new two-year customer agreement at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores within Circuit City. Chocolate...hmmm...what a great name for a phone! Now if it smelled like chocolate, then it would be even better!

Actually, the american chocolate phone is based off of the korean version that was scented with chocolate. That's where they came up with the name.

as for this ice color, I don't like it. people are saying it looks better in person, but i think it looks like a girls phone.

The colour is awful.

Did we need another color for this phone? More importantly, is there any reason to not just release all 10,000 color variations at once?

I mean, I don't have a problem with VZW making more options available. But holding back on them and acting like a new paint job is something worth giving a press release over just seems to be a bit much to me.

It keeps the phone alive (in sales) until they can come out with a predecessor. It is stupid, but it works. And more often than not, the newer color will sell on craigslist or eBay for $50-$100 more.

I liked the color from pictures online, but then I saw it in person and it just didn't appeal to me anymore.

I kind of like the color even more now that I have seen it in person. LOL, I wouldn't want to own one however.

I haven't seen the handset in person yet, but on the Verizon website it looks awesome. I'm not to fond of teh Chocolate series though

I had a friend with the Chocolate, and I tried it out. I simply couldn't get comfortable with that touch sensitive pad. More importantly, I've got bigger hands and text a lot; the size of the phone didn't work for me. Basically, it's not the phone for me.

I'll note that the VX8350 also came out in red; new colors = more sales no matter what?

Mint Green and Cherry Red worked on the last generation Chocolate, but for some reason brighter colors don't look as nice on the new "sweeter" Chocolate. I haven't seen it yet in person, though (will tomorrow, if it's available in stores!).

And it's funny that Verizon has slowly abandoned the whole "flavor" gimmick. First was the Chocolate, and then the White Chocolate - so far, so good. Then, the Mint Chocolate, Cherry Chocolate, and Strawberry Chocolate - a bit of a stretch, but it makes sense. Then comes the second-generation Chocolate with black, black cherry, and "blue mint." Since when was mint blue? And now "Blue Ice"? WTF? :D

That said, I do like the "new" Chocolate. Yeah, it's really what the original should have been, IMO (the scroll wheel actually rotates this time!) and since I'm looking to switch to Verizon, I might just pick one up if I decide I can live without QWERTY. (If I can't, it's an enV for me - the Voyager is hot, but the whole point of me switching onto my family's Verizon plan is to save money. :p)
