HI all,

I just got my Shadow today and I think I'm going to like it. Especially if one of you can help me figure out if it's possible to personalize message tones for different contacts. I have figured out via the contacts setting how to put different ring tones on different contacts, but when I receive a text message from those people, the generic text message tone sounds. I want to be able to personalize not only the ring tones but the message tones so that I know without having to look at the phone who has texted me or called. Can anyone help me with this?

I don't believe this is a feature of the Shadow. However, you might want to search the web for 3rd party Windows Mobile apps.

Thanks Alex.

You were the only one to respond to me on two different boards. I did try the 3rd party software download. I found a program called Photo Contacts Pro 5. It said that you could customize the sms tones as well as the ring tones for contacts. Unfortunately it slowed the system down so much I had to delete it though I don't think it was working as advertized anyway.

I think that between the ringtone issue, the low battery life and the difficulty in getting used to the keyboard that I might be taking t-mobile up on their 30 day refund policy.

Again, thanks for the help.

Give the keyboard some time. Once you understand it, you'll love it!
I can type out page upon page of text on that keyboard with no trouble at all, and in a very efficient manner.

Although the battery life is pretty short, you've gotta put the phone through a few full charge & discharge cycles before you can truly see the battery life. And the fact that its a brand new phone means you're probably playing with it, installing/unistalling apps & messing with configurations every five minutes...which will kill the battery on any phone pretty quickly.

But your right, I've had the phone since launch day, and have yet to find a way to set a unique SMS tone for each contact. But I really could care less, since none of my other phones had that. Custom ringers for each is enough. :)
