Update(pertaining to t-zones 5.99 plan): For some reason I cannot both download POP email and browse the internet. It is either one of the other, I am searching for a fix though, so I will keep this updated

Hi all, I want to start a Shadow thread and start posting different mods and such that we have done to them.

Credit due to Hofo folks, DashApps etc. :) I am just gathering it and trying it out on my Shadow first

2. The following applications will not work over T-MobileWeb: MSN Messenger, Agile Messenger (without the proxy option), some streaming media, Hotmail, Pocket MSN, and Java applications.

To setup the internet connection over T-MobileWeb follow these instructions:

1. Add the $5.99 T-MobileWeb service to your current voice plan (it may take up to 72 hours to activate, but typically takes less than 24 hours).

2. Follow the below instructions to setup the Shadow:

1. Add the T-MobileWeb (T-Zones) Proxy Connection
Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> Proxy -> Menu -> Add

Description: T-Zones Proxy
Connects from: Wap Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy (name : port): 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>

Press Done.

2. Configure the Existing Data Connection
Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> GPRS -> T-Mobile Data -> Menu -> Edit

Connects to: WAP Network
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP address: <blank>

Press Done.

3. Configure Pocket Internet Explorer
Start Menu -> Internet Explorer -> Menu -> Tools -> Options -> Connections

Uncheck "Automatically detect settings".
Select Network: The Internet (Must be set to "The Internet" to work over WiFi. Try "WAP Network" if you're having trouble over the EDGE/GPRS connection)

Press Done.

Accessing a POP mail server w/ T-zones Settings

In Settings/Connections/GPRS/T-Mobile Data: Tmobile Data
Connects to: Wap Network
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

AND add another GPRS option:

T-Mobile Data2
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

Then create TWO Proxies:
Settings/Connections/Proxy

First Proxy:
Name:Tzones Proxy
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP

Second Proxy:
Name Tzones Proxy2
Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP

In connections, click menu, then advance and set ALL connections to AUTOMATIC

To get the Exchange Server working:
(Exchange Server settings)
Options/Advanced
Connection: Internet

To get Pop mail accounts working:
(This will need to be done for each account you have)

Options/Account settings/Advanced Server Settings
Network Connection: Work
NOTE! The option to select which way to connect isnt available until you finish creating the POP account (go back in and change to: Work)

To get IE working:
(In IE)Menu/Tools/Options/Connections
Check "Automatically Detect Settings"
Select Network: WAP Network

Disable the SMS Sent notification

Key: SMSNoSentMs (decimal)
Default: 0 (on)

If you do not feel like tooling around in the registry, here is a simple program that will disable it for you as well as hide SIM contacts.

SK Tool Standard Smartphone Edition: http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?m_downloads.html#tools

This app. does cost about $10, however you can use the demo version to see if you like it. This is some of that rare software that I didn't mind paying for at all:D

After performing these registry hacks or mods, you will need to restart your device for them to take effect.

More to come, if anyone has anything, feel free to post it.

Sure, since you've titled this thread accordingly, just edit your first post and put as much info as you can that is relevant to the Shadow. But by all means, go ahead!

Yeah I would really like to know more hacks for the shadow. I just did one now in regards to hiding the SIM contacts in the phonebook!

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Phone]
"ShowSIM"=dword:00000001 ->0 to disable, 1 to enable

Oh good one, I have been using sktools for that operation there.

about the:

Enhanced File System Performance:

Registry: HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS
Key: CacheSize (dWord)
Default: 0
New Value: 8192

for what is that??? it makes the phone faster?

I don't exactly know all of the details for it, however I can tell a difference when accessing files and the speed at which they are "opened".

Turn In-Call Volume Up

Regisrty: HKCU\Control Panel\SoundCategories\InCall
Key: InitVol

For this tweak what would be the max value that I could input! Mine was by default at 3 and I changed it to 10, but i really havent noticed a difference at all!!!

the turn in call volme up registry hack doesnt do a thing, I changed mine which was at 3 by default to 5 , then power cycled and not a change in volume, then i changed it to 10 and nothing and then i got brave and changed the value to 20 and not a thing happened! This is just one of those that dont work!

Mine has increased. The way I was able to tell at first was how loud the call initiation beep was.

sorry to ask, but I have 2 noob questions that I don't believe were answered.

1) where are the Exchange Server settings?
2) how do you change the registry?

I looked everywhere on the phone for the "Exchange Server", but to no luck. I think I got close to changing the registry (looked in file explorer), but also no luck.

Thanks.

What happens if you have the $20 add-on? I can't get anything working. I can't believe this phone does not have the settings already built-in, my proxy and VPN sections are empty. I would rather do the $5.99, but don't have time to deal with limitations or the possibility that T-Mobile will shut down those ports, etc. Anyone have info for the $20 settings? I called TMO, wasted my time.

Also my myFaves are not showing up, any known issues here? I'm just really annoyed with these problems.
